  1. Hi Everybody, I'll keep this as breif as possible. I, after many years, have become the proud owner of a 1962 precision, all original, apart from a gawd awful refinish (sort of hideous brown colour, why!!!!!!!!!!!!). I've had the bass re-done in its original 3tsb livery with a well used/very well worn finish, and my compliments to the gentleman, it looks superb, absolutely made up with it!!!. i know, I know, it's a refin, refin, but, like so many of you fellow low enders out there, I don't happen to have a spare £7000-£10000 in my back pocket for a 9 out of ten specimen (possibly more) complete with orginal case and candy!!! Anyhow, me being an old fart, I kinda like my basses to be properly ''dressed'' and I'm on the lookout for a 1962 bridge cover, pick-up cover and thumb rest (with screws if poss). So, if anybody out there has, or can point me in the right direction to obtain these parts I'd be very greatful. I fully understand, they'll be pretty thin on the ground, and obviously expensive for the right parts. but hey, if it's worth doing, then try and do it properly!!. Thanks for listening out there in bass land, and if you have any help or advice, greatly appreciated. Aye, Ray C.
  2. Anybody out there heard anything about this at all???. I've been a big big fan of the man for what seems like decades, (old fart) and I have to say, if Bob has the ''final say'' then I'm sure the bass will be something else. OK, so maybe Jamerson was supposedly 'the daddy'', but I reckon Bob B was just as good. especially having to fill his shoes (which he did with distinction) in the ''snakepit'' with the Funkbrothers. There was a small hint from the man himself on You Tube about a possible ''tribute'', but I think that interview was some time ago. As I said if anybody has heard anything I'd be greatful to hear, if it turns out to be a Fender Custom Shop run, then I'll dream on, but if its a normal ''factory run'' then I'd be VERY tempted. Happy festive season to one and all!. Aye, Ray C.

Hi from the scottish borders. Just joined basschat, and love what Ive seen so far. I'd class myself as an ''old fart''. been playing for more years than I care to remember!!!!. Like so may other bassists, I play in a function/covers band, and to keep it interesting, {along with four other silly old farts who should know better !!} help keep the low end down in a ''not bad at all'' blues band. Ive picked up a couple of nice basses over the years. 1964 3tsb jazz bass, 1962 3tsb precision,1951 (custom shop built) precision, and Pino Palladino precison which is the gigging bass (superb pick-up), and as a ''do I really need this bass?''......yes'', a duff mc'cagan mexican built PJ bass, which I have to say is superb, dropped the action down a tad....sorted!!. Ampwise, got a Fender tb1200 head and 2 x 15 pro series cab as the gigging rig, and I use an old bxr 300c combo for the blues band. Ive just finished renovating an old Bxr spectrum cab (1 x 18 and 2 x 10, fitted an hf horn), hoping to track down a good bassman 135 valve head to drive it, as the combo really does have its limitations. Anyhow enough of this idle babbling, great to be in the company of Im sure illlustrious players, and as someone once said ''They'd sure notice if we stopped playing''!!!!!!!.
