Hello! I've just joined this forum! At the moment I play a Fender Aerodyne bass with J/P pickups running through a Trace Elliot GP SM combo. I'm setting up a studio at the moment so Instead of travelling around a lot and playing on different amps, I'll be able to focus on customising my own sound with what I already own. Although the Aerodyne sounds brilliant, I reckon it could be that bit better, especially when playing live. I'm really interested in upgrading the pickups but don't have a clue where to start! I play with my fingers. My style ranges in between playing very subtle and quiet notes on the J pickup then going for something a little punchier (but not too much!) that will cut through the mix in louder parts on the P pickups. On the J pickups I would like my softer notes to have more sustain and depth and the P pickups to have more presence without being too overbearing. Price range isn't a massive issue just now but nothing too outrageous! Thanks!
