Every year , in early spring , I hear of a couple of impossibly great finds that actually happen. Old Pbasses that go for $35. Yard sales and flea markets. People getting rid of a relatives stuff etc etc .
It does happen. But it’s never me finding the original deal. I’ve heard it can take several sales before something fetches market value. -
I like seeing Tbird pickups on shortscale Fender Shaped Things.

I just realized my last splurge was back in December , so I’m still good for 24. Although I did buy a little bag to put an amp in. And I will be ordering some strings on my next music store visit.

I’m an old Pbass guy. Mostly play short scales now , but recently picked up a med scale.

I’ve been a Dano user since the reissues appeared in the late 90’s. There was minor support when they first came out but that had vanished by the time they first moved production to China , and the old stock quickly disappeared.
I went looking for a replacement wooden bridge , because they sound better than the adjustable ones. Eventually I found a Jerry Jones bridge from a fellow aficionado on TB.Love their basses , but the Evets company that owns the name sucks.

I’ve been using Deep Talking flats on most shortscales , I’m going to pick up some low tension ones to try them out.

The skunk stripe in the 4003 is only a very recent addition.
That’s a 77 4001 , that burgundy glo is not all that translucent. But it would be there.

I had to read that to Herself.

I love my NE-1 pedals to give practice amps a bit more thump at very low volume.

An old friend was always quoting the title of his all time favourite review. “Old , fat, tattooed and boring”.
he’s often introduce himself as that …

Welcome ! I’m just a bit up the coast from you , I joined up because there was a lot of things that are common in Europe and the UK that have never really found a presence in North America.

I have borrowed an early 1970s Rickenbacker 4000s. It is fabulous, sounds absolutely huge and is light years better than any other Rick I have ever played.
This has cured any GAS I had for owning a Rick, because I know the owner would never part with this one and I can't imagine finding another that's this good.
The 4000 is a great rig. I thought I’d miss the neck pickup , but I didn’t , and there’s a lot to be said for two knob simplicity. I have the set neck version. In burgundyglo. And managed to snag it for a very reasonable price. I get stunned when I see what they fetch these days.
My wife is awesome

You are a lucky one.
I am thankful that Herself thinks some basses are worth picking up. Just before Christmas I showed her a picture of a big orange hollow body Gretsch , she took one look and said “get it”.
