  1. The other side of this is could any of the eeerrrrmmm so called voices on The Voice sing in a true live situation, with a band or orchestra etc. I think the vocalist from the 70's would have no problem with either of these real singing opportunity.

  2. I think the main thing is to mute with your fretting fingers. If you use a pick you can mute by resting your hand on the strings near the bridge. I find the best way to get the sort of thing I think you are after (sound wise) is to kind of kill the sound with your fretting hand the best eg in the videos above is Entwistle look what he does to stop the sound.
Not sure if this will help, but you never know B)

The title Moonlight Sonata wasn't Beethoven's. I once read that is was written because he had an unrequited crush on one of his pupils, to whom it is dedicated. He wasn't commissioned to write it either which is interesting. It has a terrible beauty to me moving on to a rather disturbed and agitated passion, terribly sad and shading into madness. He broke the rules of the classical sonata in writing it that way with the build up towards the end.

I'm not sure I'd ever listen to the guitarist playing it again, just pointing out the virtuosity in one of her party pieces.

Absolutely spot on that man, well said. :D

  4. Fantastic playing if that is your thing, although a little dated.
I may be wrong but, isn't Moonlight Sonata about the night, quite time of the day, a time to relax. This version seems a little heavy for my idea of a "Sonata" but that is just me.

  5. Never wanted, nor tried to learn slap, never found it of any use or interest myself.
I believe if you really want something you can learn it, but like all things music it's never easy and if you are not fully sold on the idea maybe the reason you find it hard to progress.
Hard work and practice, should be the musicians motto.

  6. After everybody's recommendations I have gone a little my own way.
I have for years used a Reunion Blues gig bag for guitar, and my wife also has one for her Cornet. Not sure why didn't look these up in the first place.
Although this bag isn't the best if you are carrying more than just you instrument, the protection these offer is bomb proof.

Again thanks everyone for the input.

  7. I'm thinking of getting a gig bag, problem is I haven't looked at gig bags for years.
As my basses are quality instruments, I need something that will offer ultimate protection.
It will be used to move instruments from house to car, car to rehearsal/gig venue. No public transport travel, or even walking very far. I would like shoulder straps please.
So words of experience, reviews good and bad, tales of woe or the best thing since sliced bread will be greatly appreciated.

All replies on the left wing of a dead dodo please :i-m_so_happy:  B)

    Ta very glad
