1.
I've not done the guessing game with these. I've recorded both my Euro 5LX and my NS-5XL which both have U-Retro preamps and are both strung with Elixirs of near enough the same condition, both basses have the same set up and both had EQ flat and pickup blend in the mid position. I recorded through a Pandora 5 with no effects. The riff I nicked earlier this evening from the Lakland website where it is used to demo sounds - it's called Fingerfunk. If it's not quite right, please forgive me, it was a quick transcription  . The tracks were hurriedly recorded with Garageband and I used Drums On Demand Appleloops. My playing's a bit clunky but I came back from Italy yesterday with a couple of bottles of Lemoncello and opened one earlier. I haven't had a drink in months and it's hit me like a ton of... lemons. :brow: Spector Euro 5 Fingerfunk Spector NS5 Fingerfunk
These are some nice clips, out of interest what kind of elixirs do you use on the Euro 5, I used the 105 to 45 from E to G and found it to be too tight, would u recommend I drop a gauge i.e 100 to 40 to solve this problem??? Thanks again! Jack
 2. Hi, I own a Spector Euro5LX a great bass, but in the last few weeks I have been thinking about changing the preamp. At the minute the Euro has the Spector tonepump in it which I find nice and powerful but I feel that I don't have that much control over my tone. I have looked at installing a EMG BQC system to replace the tonepump because I read that EMG preamps go very well with EMG active pickups which I have in my Euro5LX (a pair of EMG 40DCs). Has anyone had any experience with this set up and if so any advice would be appreciated, also if anyone could could give me the pros and cons with this idea. P.S I play lots of styles of music (Rock and Metal mainly) and I am just looking on how to get more control over my tone. Thanks for your time Jack
 3. Hi, I am writing for some help and advice with my new GK rig. I own a GK 1001 RB-II with a GK 410 RBX-II, its a great rig and I love the power and clarity that I get from it but I am looking for some advice about using effects with the set up. I own a boss overdrive pedal and I like to use this to add some "dirt" to my tone now and then, I have never used effects with my new GK set up because I am new to the bi-amping feature on the rig and I am a little scared to use effects whilst in this mode. My questions to you are: How safe is it to use an effect like overdrive while bi-amping without damaging the horn/woofer? and How will this effect my sound? Should I run effects in front of the amp or through the FX loop? Any help and advice about bi-amping whilst using effects would be greatly appreciated. Thanks for your time! Jack
