And every practice I would hear three things from schooled and self taught musicians alike "bass doesn't do that", "bass can't do that" (hence my username), to which I'd respond "it just did" and my most hated phrase, "we need you to lay down a solid beat, could you just play quarter notes?". That's not actually a beat - that's a rhythmic pulse... go get a synthesizer. I think the guitar players really just need to stop w***ing and realize that they're part of a "band". I've found with 90's and 00's trace elliots that I can't find a cab that'll handle the high range of the bass as clearly or as beautifully as trace. I play a semi classical style with a lot of long ringing notes and finger picked chording. It sounds like mud through the wrong rig and the average tweeter doesn't seem to like it. But I won't be a fan boy and say trace elliot is the best. I do however love trace elliot and prefer them since they suit my style the best of any cabs I've tried so far. (Yet I've never owned one - just played them for hours and hours in music stores with numerous basses)

Hi, I'm a long time Trace Elliot fan but have never been able to own one unfortunately and now it looks like I'll have to buy a used one or go the DIY route. Does anyone know particularly what Celestion 10's you'd find in a 1028H cab or more importantly what those 4 inch bass horns are? My biggest selling feature of the Trace Cabs were the dual 4 inch bass horns which have now been replaced by a standard horn - I haven't tried it but I'm fearing that the single horn couldn't possibly put out the same beautiful mids that those dual 4 inch bass horns could. So what are they? And is Peavey just going cheap on their Trace Elliot builds and making them the same as everything else out there or is this actually technology moving forward?
