1. Latest update -
I pulled the trigger on a Focusrite Saffire 24 (and lead - thanks paul 5). There was a little learning curve involved in finding how to change logics SP/DIF to 96Khz, and with the software for routing and mix levels. I've just finished my first "test" recording with 3 channels at once - SPDIF, DI, and Mic'd cab.
I was initially thrown by the phasing, but fixed that in logic and I'm amazed at the difference between SP/DIF and DI.
Now the fun starts:)

2. Fred came over and bought my USA Fender Jazz. We had a cuppa and a chat, and Fred is a great guy.

Enjoy the bass, and good luck with your music.

3. Jay Jacket bought my JV Jazz - lots of good communication about bank transfers and shipping. Very pleasant transaction and Jay Jacket is a nice bloke.

All good here.

4. Hello Rich, Thanks for your great reply. I guess now its just a case of "pulling the trigger" and seeing if the digital out on the RH450 works with the audio interface. Here is another good thread on BC about audio interfaces, and although I mentioned the Tascam 144 above, for sure their are plenty on the market that seem to do the job. I'll scour Ebay in the hope of not losing too much moolah if it doesn't work.

5. Hello,

I use a RH450 at home and want to record my bass into logic and , seeing as it's there, use the digital out instead of the DI on the RH450.

I've yet to get an audio interface, so I'm thinking the Tascam us-144mk2 as it has s/pdif in/out at 96 kHz - which is what the RH450 says in the manual it puts out.

Has anyone done this? Is this a good idea? Should I buy something else? Am I barking up the wrong tree?

Thanks.

6. Hello,
I just took this in a trade, and would like to move it on.

It looks to me as though it has John Suhr designed pickups. I whipped one of the covers off and they are side by side hum-buckers (E,A string then D,G string). I knew John Suhr single pole pickups were used on early USA Deluxe models and guess that the pickups in this bass are similar versions designed for MIM Deluxe Jazzes of this era. I had a quick google and found a few pics of the same model (same colour, year, MIM, and these big pole pickups). Like the USA Deluxes' this has a 3 band Active E.Q with 1x vol and pickup pan controls. I've had a MIM jazz a few years ago and was pretty indifferent to it, but this is way better. Nice feel, easy to play and the Pickups / Active Electronics give great tones.

The bass has been well cared for as there are very few marks other than some of the lacquer has lifted on the headstock, so it looks a bit matt in places. None of the lacquer has flaked off, its just lifted - tried to capture in the photo below.

The Bass weights just over 8 pounds. (not the best scales - sorry)

A lot of bang for your buck.

If you know more about this model, in particular the single pole pickups, please feel free to enlighten.
You are welcome to come and have a go - located in Ashford Kent.

Thanks for looking

Re: the dot inlays. I had a p-bass from '04 that had the same thing happen to the black inlays: I just assumed it was the lacquer lifting away from the plastic.
Very interesting - you could be right. The dots were like it when it came to me and I haven't heard of it before, so I thought they had been replaced. There is nothing to be felt when touching them... Thanks for your input dougal. :)

Are you willing to ship the bass? I'm based in Newcastle. Also, are you after sale only or would you be interested in a trade? I have a Fender Roscoe Beck 5 I wouldn't mind trading .

Thanks
Shaun
Hello Shaun - I am very happy to post the bass to you - sorry no trades thanks. I'll amend the advert. Cheers
