Total Watts

  1. Hello, I'm looking for a bassist for a covers outfit playing a mixture of blues/swing/funk and the like. The aim of the project is to have a bit of fun, play some obscure and the occassional well known covers with the aim to do some gigging (more for the hell of it than for money). We've got a full lineup and have been rehearsing weekly for about 6 months, so the setlist is well on its way. We're all experienced musicians so we're trying to find someone with a good competency and the ability to pick things up quick, mess about with styles etc. Some of the songs we're learning are hinged on some complicated bass lines, whilst others are incredibly simple. Here's a flavour of the setlist to give an idea of what we're doing, 'ere it is in no particular order: - Work Song (Nat Adderly) - New Coat Of Paint (Tom Waits) - Smokestack Lightning / Suzie Q (Howlin' Wolf / Dale Hawkins) - I'm Alright (Loudon Wainwright ) - Right Place, Wrong Time (Dr John) - Lies (J J Cale) - Sixteen Tons (Merle Travis) - The Weight (The Band) - The Thrill Has Gone (B B King) - Further On Up The Road (Eric Clapton) - Chuck E.'s In Love (Rickie Lee Jones) - I Gotta Move (The Kinks) - Ice Cream Man (Tom Waits) - Got My Mojo Working (Muddy Waters) - The Hand That Changed It's Mind (Dr John / Jools Holland) - Ice Cream (Sarah McLachlan) - King Of The Road (many versions but listen to The Proclaimers version) and more... There is some more modern stuff in there that we're putting a blues feel to. We're all from the Horsham area in Sussex, so if there is anyone out there who lives local enough and wants to give it a try then lemme know! We practice once a week (usually Mon, Tues or Weds). Age range of the band is early 20s - mid 30s. The rest of the lineup sorted and its fronted by female vocals. We're open to double bass or electric. Its a pretty chilled project, so may be suitable as a secondary band if you have the time. I think thats enough info for now, gimme a shout if you want to know more. Cheers, James
