    Thanks for the suggestions. Looking around I might be able to manage either a new Sennheiser Freeport, or a sued Shure PGX24 & SM58. Which would people opt for?

Curious, maybe....but definately cautious. I prefer knowing i'm in the right about things, rather than muddling along as i go hoping that things will be ok.

    Are there different sizes of captive nut available for rack mounting? I've just bought another (used) flightcase and my normal captive nuts won't quite fit. The nut part appears to be too fat, meaning that the "ears" of it won't go far enough in to the rack strip to secure themselves properly. Also, beacause they're still "sprung" inwards the bolt won't fit through the hole either. All help appreciated! :-)

    Thanks! Looks like i'll have to give it a try.... I've always been interested to know the power consumption of equipment so as to be sure that venues have sufficient power sockets available. Although an amplifier/speaker is rated at 500w at 4ohm or whatever....does it actually draw this power? i.e. can you have a max of approx 6 x 500w cabinets on a single 13a socket?

    Thanks for the replies!I considered a Maplin type monitor a year or so back and actually bought one. The trouble is to change cables you've got to unplug everything meaning if you want to look at one cable, then another at the same time you'd have to have several meters. At least a clamp meter would mean you could test any cable you want at any time. Do you need to separate the cables when using a clamp meter, or can you put the whole 3-core cable in the clamp?

    Does anyone ever use any sort of clamp meter or similar check what current kit is drawing? Wondered if there was a simple way to get a pretty good indication of what you're asking of the power supply.

    Looking to change my Kam KWM11 mics and get something that's less prone to dropping out. Are there any good value options out there around the £100-150 mark? Would be very happy to accept something good quality but used if anyone's got one knocking around. thanks
