1.
You sold the BTB!?
    MADNESS!!!
I really couldn't get used to the chunky neck on a 5-string :) Maybe if I had a 4-string BTB, it would be easier but man... my left hand felt like an 8 yrs old hand on the BTB hahah! (And I have quite long fingers too!)
These are fabulous basses for the money. I think if I was starting again I'd buy a couple of these and have done with it; I'd have saved myself thousands. Oh and yes, looks like wenge/bubinga to me.
Oh yes, oh yes! This SR505 is by far the best 5 string bass i've played! I owned the SR405, SR485, SR885, SR645 and BTB405 in the past and the sound and comfort of the neck is the best out of all the SR's I've played!

  2. Bumpity bump...

Anyone else have a 4-string active bass up for grabs?

Just to give you guys a clear idea of what im looking for in most wanted order:

Fender active deluxe jazz or precision or any other Fender active bass
    Ibanez SR
    Schecter
    Spector
    Ibanez ATK
    Warwick
    G&L
    ESP Ltd

    Active basses only please.

  3. hehe thanks all! But before I sell this bass, I need to look for an active 4-stringer! Im into the Fender Jazz sound at the moment so i'd like a fender active deluxe jazz? Anyone have one up for grabs or have any active 4-stringer for sale?

  4.
erisu was the previous owner of my BTB.

I was actually sat here wonder how the bridges worked. I'd never have thought of a magnet...
    cheers.

Yup  I remember changing the strings on this bass and didn't feel any magnetic force pulling the strings :) I just thought the top end of the bridge holds the strings down when the string goes over the saddle to be strung... You just slide the ball end into the bridge and it holds... that's at least how i did it lol

  5. I heard these fit:

    http://www.warmoth.com/Single-String-Bridge-C719.aspx
    and
    http://www.bestbassgear.com/single-string-bass-bridges.htm

I think you would need to cut off the string holes on the first link if they don't come off with force =/

  6.
Here's the conclusion from the BGM review of the Canyons:
For £600, I would say a S/H Lakland 55-01 is the best option! I haven't played one yet but i heard the B string is the best in this price range (and maybe even giving more expensive 5-string basses a run for their money!) The 01 lakland's also have Bart's MK1 pickups and pre-amps which the SR505 use too. Im even on the verge of getting a 44-02 deluxe through the take it away finance scheme :)

  7. I just got a Ibanez SR505 for £230 in minttttttt with a case as well 2 weeks ago! It truely is an awesome bass!! I had to turn my amp down because of the power the bass was giving! Very versatile in tone tweaking too! It's also surprisingly light for a mahogany body too =O The only thing that worries me is the finish on these basses... its natural finish so it's easier to dent and scratch than laquer finished basses =(

  8.
Check it out on the royal mail site, just enter the weight. I expect the size format will be "packet"

    http://sg.royalmail.com/portal/rm/PriceFin...ear=pricingcalc
Cheers for the link! No idea how heavy the box will be, its a pretty small box anyway so im guessing 700 - 900 grams which would cost £5? (Changed the postage price to £5)

  9.
Cheers.

I am seriously tempted by the BTB676, but it'll have to wait. I've got the ok from the wife to get a VMJ Fretless in the next couple of months. I may wait until the end of the year for a 6 string...

I'm getting used to the 405 pretty quickly. I've just changed the jack socket as the old one had a loose connector in it and the pots need changing. I'm going to see about changing the hardware for black stuff, the current hardware is a bit pitted.
I was going to change the hardware but realised it's not good for me because of the neck. If I was to get some replacement parts for this bass if I have kept it, I would either of:

    - Located an Ibanez dealer and asked for the parts I need
    - Source parts from 3rd party companies. I heard hipshot make replacement bridges for the BTB? Check our www.bestbassgear.com (in U.S though but ordered through them before and they are excellent!)
    - As for the tuners and knobs, i was going to go with Hipshot tuners (or maybe gotoh ones?) and just normal standard knobs.

Glad you are getting used to the fat neck!

  10. Hey guys!

Got these Gotoh tuners for sale:

    http://www.bestbassgear.com/gotoh-sealed-tuners.htm

    They are 2 x 2 tuners.

They are in chrome and in mint condition - Will sell for £20 POSTED

I took these off a bass I bought because I wanted to convert the chrome hardware into black.

You are welcome to come collect from West London.

  11. Love Ibanez! I just got a SR505 for a steal last week! it's just a wonderful bass to play! Brilliant for heavy metal as it has thumping bottom end and that's just keeping the EQ flat! :)

  12. Hi all

I bought an Ibanez SR505 bass with a Gator hard case yesterday  Despite asking if I can get the price knocked down if I don't take the hard case or swap a hard case for a gig bag, he couldn't split the bass with the case because he didn't have a gig bag and was unwilling to sell the bass seperately for a cheaper price.

I prefer gig bags over hard cases tbh as hard cases don't fit into my snug and small car and i can't exactly swing them around my shoulders if im moving with my bass from point A to point B.

    http://www.gatorcases.com/productsdetail.a...LID=2&PID=7
^Exact model I have but a bass case obviously

The cheapest I found these cases sell at £64 including postage at:

    http://www.millennium-music.co.uk/products...tail/key/p/ppp/

    Will sell it for £25?

Collection only unfortunately due to the size of the case and my lack of time packaging up this case properly.

    :)
