1. Ok - I am actually finding this quite difficult. Due to the pickup being a humbucker I have to go for brinze/nickel strings right? But the problem is being a resonator it really has a bright sibilant scratchy sound - i need to mellow it out some AND they need to be short scale! Does anyone know of a nice store where the owners are willing to give suggestions based on your needs? Thanks again Sorry to drag this out but its just i'm having little luck finding many options andperhaps moreso am unsure exactly of what my options are
2. actually its a humbucker - fender fr51 who's Rob? thanks

4. Just wondering if anyine knows of brands of acoustic strings that are out there? I see very little choice on the bay or else where really. I need some warm (not bright) short scale strings for my resonator bass and want to try out a few different types. Thanks
5. yeah looks like the type A is the way to go then. Is brass just for asthetics or does it have any tonal impact?
6. Thans foks I have been looking at hipshot products and trying to figire out why they offer the folowing two products? is there nothing greatly different between them? One is cheaper i guess but is that the only difference? 7. Well i have been fighting my bass for tone for years now and have decided to go with a replacement body as i feel it is the body that lets it down in the tone dept. I have tried all variations of pickups and strings and it was just never what i really wanted. I do however love the neck and body shape and depsite loving the sound of P bassess i couldnt get into the physical aspect of playing it - i have played this same bass for 10 year and my playing has grown wih the shape i have no real desire to play anything else. Despite its weight i have decided on a piece of solid mahogony which is en route at the moment I will stick with my lindy fralin P pickup _ though i will be ditching the J pickup from the current P/J configuration as it goes unsed. I would like a recomendation for a fully adjustable 4 string bridge? I think i want to go through body - does this have any negative points as my aim is to get as much sustain as possible? any suggestions welcome.
8. Can someone reccomend a tube for a tighter and cleaner sound? i dont mind swapping out a resistor/cap or two either i am no stranger to a bit of soledring right now i just think its too woolly for my tastes but would be a great tool if i could make use of it as it has super features -
9. wow! what a gent thankyou for your time dude i really appreciate it
10. Having some issues with the sound of my bass - I upgraded from 2 dirty humbuckers to a lindy fralin P/J set up. I would like to change it to just a P setup but beforei get carefree with a router i want to get some ballpark figures maybe they exist somewhere i dont know - but if you have a moment to spare i'd reall appreicate the following info: Nut to bridge saddle distance Bridge saddle to " (E/A) pickup" (centreline) Bridge saddle to " (D/G) pickup" (centreline) Nut to " (E/A) pickup" (centreline) Nut to " (D/G) pickup" (centreline) End of fret board to " (E/A) pickup" (centreline) End of fret board to " (D/G) pickup" (centreline) and centreline to centreline distance between the EA and DG Pups. I dont plan on using the info to copy exactly especially as my bass is not a p or j bass body but i can work out the percentages and it will give me a good operating window to work with - Also the less wood i route out in expeimenting the better as lesss wood will not have a good effect on the tone. Thanks to anyone who can spare the time Cheers
11. No pad switch unfortunately its a rack unit power amp with xlr in - so couldnt plug in unless i go bass - pedals - DI box with line level out Is there a Di box with line level out aswell as mic level out?
12. The output section of my trace head is buggered Using the DI out to a poweramp as a stop gap The level is quite low though - is there any small box i could buy to boost the signal (with no distortion)??
13. Hi I am just looking for advice on how to optimise the clean headroom from this pedal. Also there is a trimpot in side - I am rluctant to adjust it until i know for sure its meant to be adjusted? Thanks
14. http://cachepe.zzounds.com/media/quality,8...dff4a7e36cf.jpg thats a pick of the rear I for now will be using the xlr out from a DHA VT Bass eq Is it like a normal amp situation in that you plug a speakon into output 1 and the other end into a cab then another lead from the out of the cab into your next cab? or do they work different? both my cans are 8 ohm rated 375w i think. 50%of the gigs i can only use one of them. when i'm using both it appears easy just run a speakon from each out to each cab seperately?
15. Ok so this amp should be arriving soon - Sometimes i use just a markbass 102p = 8 ohms sometimes i use 102p plus ampeg 115e = 4ohms how will i wire/run the amp in those cases? Unsure of poweramps working in bridged mode etc etc thanks a million
16. ok so its not strictly bass effects but it is to the end of running them I have a ghetto idea but the lack of electronics knwledge is working against me! left over from my PC modding days i have a 100% adjustable power supplys a 12v and a 24v like hose listed below. http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Meanwell-S-320-12-30...93%3A1|294%3A50 http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/MEANWELL-S-320-24-24...93%3A1|294%3A50 so what i am thnking is turn the 24v one down to 12v and turn the 12v down to 9v it would make a bulky front end to a pedal board but i kind of like the idea of something wacky looking! i know for the job i used them for before they were very hi spec but i am not sure for supplying power to audio devices how good they are? i could then get things like : http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/10-Pcs-2-1mm-female-...93%3A1|294%3A50 to hook up the pedals apart from being overkill - too big - and maybe even ugly what do you think?
17. sorry to be sure i have it right: The supply can be rated at a greater amps (say 5 amps) than the pedal (say 1200ma) that means a 12v power supply rated at 5 amps could theoreticly supply a good 12v feed to 4 1200ma 12v pedals? not actually going to be doing that but checking the theory
18. Well gonna be expanding my pedals (from zero to three!) I am looking at a multi power block but my pedals have an odd enough requirement 12v 500ma 12v 1200ma and i presume a handful of regular 9v fellows can you suggest anything that will suit? Thanks
19. Stumbled upon this site while googling for a DHA COmpressor Review. Have to say frequenting a Bass Forum never occured to me but seems lke such a nice place to hang out here i'll stick around. I have a pretty modest setup but I love to play. See y'all on the boards. cheers
20. I am just curios - After you spend all that hard earned cash on your stompboxes and preamps - if you find yourself in a situation of having to run into a DI box fro say a line level out on your Preamp does it change the tone much?
21. i offered asking? why put it up on ebay? why not reply at all? yu have been online since i offered asking? I'm not pushed either way dude - but manners are a fine thing y'know. cheers
22. well i'm new enough to the forum so there must be a wealth of infomation in the search function on good pickups but i can say from my own experience i am REALLY happy with my Lindy Fralin Pickups - Il ove the tone of them - and the step up from fender pups to these was noticeable and put a smile on my face - however if there are better passive pickups out there ill be watching to see what others say.
23. Just ou of curiosity really it has a DI XLR out and a line out with level control so iwould presume it could. would prefer to save the xlr DI out for the desk but i guess if i had to i could run the line out into a DI box and feed that to the desk. More importantly i guess, technicly is it a recomended way of doing things or are there reaosn you "should" run through a preamp after this beofre a power section. At the end of the day - ears will tell all i need to know - but interested to know if people think this is a good solution? Reason being i have a qsc rmx850 and if it meant i could give up the carlsoboro combo and start using my markbass 210 and ampeg 15 cabs i'd be a happy bunny! there's plenty of tone shaping in the vt1 eq so hopefuly should be able to dial in a good sound only thing is in that situation i'll HAVE to ru: BASS - COMP PEDAL - DISTORTION PEDAL - VT1 EQ - POWERAMP any thoughts?
24. hi would be most interested in getting mu hands on this pedal! drop me a pm thanks.
