1. Hello - thanks for reading this. The Collector - playing material by The Jam, Paul Weller, Ocean Colour Scene, The Who as well as our own material - need a bass player. Our old bass player lived in Buckinghamshire and it was just too far and expensive for him to make regular practices - we practice (for free!) in Witney. If you like any of those bands - or stuff like Greenday and Oasis - PLEASE get in touch. Thanks in advance...
2. Hi thanks for reading. You a bass player reading this right? You based in/near Witney or further if you have transport? We have a great set - contacts - and gigs waiting. Ideally you will have some gigging experience yourself. Preferred age will be 25 - 40 but you know - if you can play, are dedicated and committed... no worries!!! We need you to be able to hit the ground running - to be able to learn and perform songs fast - but it will be a blast. Hi energy - fast lively - energetic - rock/mod/punk - revivalist/modern/original stuff.. Bruce Foxton- Mike Dirnt - John Entwistle......and many more..... Thanks for reading.....
3. Paul Weller & The Jam - main influence - an Oxford based Weller/Jam Tribute act need a bass player to complete their 4 piece line up. We have contacts, gear, commitment and a love of playing live. Gigs are waiting country wide. We are based in Witney/Carterton and need to hear from you NOW! We have rehearsal space (FREE rehearsals!) and all the equipment you could ask for All we need from you is the drive and commitment to perform tracks by the greatest singer/songwriter of the past 40 years the MOD father himself. We might also be doing some other great mod numbers as well - but our set will be built around the great man himself. With the film Brighton Rock about to do for the Mod scene in the 00's that Quadrophenia did in the 80's - it is a GREAT time to get out there and have some fun and play some great shows. Why are ya still reading this? Get in touch....now! Be great to hear from anyone interested so please get in touch
4. Thanks for the kind words guys. Sorry I haven't been on here for a but - I've been ill. Seem to be a bit better now. We have found a bass player - thanks guys. The funny thing was - after all the adverts we placed EVERYWHERE lol - we found a great player and someone right for the job from....this forum lol! Kind of ironic - in a good way! I have put the website back up - including 4 songs that we recorded two weeks ago. Don't know if you are allowed to put sites here - admin just delete it if I've broken the rules. www.wearethestart.com. Thanks for all the assistance and kind words. Russ was a complete gent when the band supported him - he even came on stage with us and played Eton Rifles with us! What a night....
5.
Am based in Brum but can easily travel. Might be up for depping for you on existing gigs for shits and giggles til you find someone (as long as there arent too many clashes with studio bookings). PM me if you are interested.
Thanks for your reply.
6. Hello! I have come here representing The Start! a 3 piece rock/punk/mod outfit playing the music of The Jam (primarily) but we have other interests too. We played with the lead vocalist Russell Hastings front man with From The Jam at the beginning of May and are in line to support From The Jam when they release their album next year. We have a financial backer, and some REALLY great gear and a lot of contacts. We are considering (when we find the right bass player) moving onto the lucrative "tribute" arena but we DO write our own material so that will have to be thought about quite a bit more. We have some pretty high profile of gigs waiting and it's a matter of how far WE want to go really. We desperately need a reliable bass player though - one who is ambitious and dedicated, who is willing to work and who wants to be in a band that is going to go places in terms of paid gigs, stage show etc. Myself and our drummer are in the studio all of next week recording a new prom CD (I have the "enviable" task of doing EVERYTHING except the drumming - but have little choice at this point.) We have a lot of gigs that we WERE to play (before our bass player imploded - what a tale THAT is...) and some, a couple of fairly high profile ones, we would really like to be able to honour. Anyway we are in dire need of a bass player - so if anyone is in the Oxford area - please let us know. The average age of the band is 34 - don't know if that's a plus or minus! We have a website - but in fit of RAGE at the antics of our now ex bass player - I gutted the site - but you can still check it out - but most of the cool stuff has gone at the moment as I haven't the heart/time/inclination to put it all back until we announce our new member! www.wearethestart.com You can contact me here, or there - if you like early Jam, and British Punk/New Wave (and some other stuff too, including The Who, Small Faces, Green day(!) The Distillers, The Enemy -a bit- or Twisted Wheel) - please get in touch. Thanks very much in advance....
