1. Hi guys,

I'm looking to move on my Wood & Tronics Fretless Chronos 5 due to a pending house move and need some funds. I bought this off of Pierre Ganseman about 5-6 years ago, and unfortunately I can't exactly remember what all the specs were and I seem to have lost my PM history from that time. So I'll list what I know, if Pierre sees this he might chime in :)

• Chronos 5 string - E-C tuning
• Maple neck/body (unsure of top wood), ebony unlined finger board with side markers
• Scale length is somewhere between short/medium (30.5" from nut to saddle on E string)
• String spacing 19mm
• John East 3 band preamp + on/off switch
• Single coil pickups
• Finger Ramp
• Hipshot ultralight tuners
• Currently strung with new Fodera rounds
• Weight: 4.1kgs

It's both a lovely bass to look at and to play; it has a very low action and plenty of mwah. The eq is very powerful, however I think I prefer it in passive mode :) Gigged with it less than half a dozen times, and has spent most of it's time on a stand - I'm not a very good fretless player truth be told! :|

There's a few small issues to mention which I've also tried to highlight in the photos:

• There's a nick on the body just off the top right 'corner' of the control plate where I foolishly used a precision screwdriver to try and get the control plate off to change the battery - doh
• There's a small ding on the back of the top horn on the rear of the body
• There's a couple of small dings on the face of the fingerboard up in the dusty end
• There's a scuff on the top of the headstock
• There's a small ding on the edge of the neck on the treble side around the 6th fret area (can't really feel it when playing)

I'm located in Sudbury, Suffolk should anyone want to come and try it. Local pickup is preferred but I have enough material to send it securely - probably cost around £30 to send. Can also travel in the Suffolk/Essex are to meet people if that facilitates a sale.

I'm looking for £1100 but open to offers - no trades thanks.

Any questions let me know!

2. Hi guys,

Up for grabs is my Mike Lull PJ5. Bought for a particular project from Mark @ Bass Direct back in June of this year, alas the project fell through and this is now gathering dust. Used literally ONCE at a band rehearsal and remained in the house ever since, it is in showroom condition.

Here's a link to the 'sold' listing on the Bass Direct website - this has all the details/pictures you should need:

http://www.bassdirec..._PJ5_Black.html

It's a great player with a very wide range of tones and is in as new condition. It comes in a Protec gig bag/semi-hard case and I will also throw in a set of Thomastik Jazz Flats I fitted to the bass for a short time.

Any more questions then please let me know. Not interested in trades on this I'm afraid.

£1750.

M.

Because in many cases ( though not all ) the j is markedly quieter than the p, and worse still, in a PJ, it's at a point where there's less string excursion than the P sees, so the mismatch is made even more acute.

Having a twin J at the bridge can help balance it out (think mk1 Fender MIA deluxe P)
Or a humbucker in a single-coil housing...

I had this exact same concern, so when I was looking for a new 5-banger I'd ruled a PJ out from the start.

Then I tried this, and all my concerns ebbed away. So I bought it. Nicest bass I've ever owned, loads of tonal options despite being passive....

Give us some facts then, man!
Is the house ported (in case: how) or closed cabinet? And how is it tuned?

best,

Well after the cold weather we've been having, the house is definitely a sealed unit. Although I did leave the toilet seat up - I suppose that would make it a port-a-loo......

5. I've gone down the route of adding a powered sub. Only been able to try it in the house but it seems to work well. I find I get a good amount of bass with the sub set to 0db and the bass rolled off on the amp. Hitting the bass boost button on the amp makes the house shake though.... ;)

Would you be interested in a trade for a sonic blue CIJ 62RI Jazz plus £600? Pics below

Thanks for the offer Clarky but I have my eye on something else, so need the coin....

Although I will say, some bassists I have seen just come across as total nerds on stage, especially with weird looking basses or when they barely move. I don't know why, but bass to me seems to attract two types:

1. Cool 'band' types who love the whole rock star 'thing' and really get into it,
2. Nerds.

I like to think I'm 1, but I'm probably also a bit of 2.

I'm definitely 2....
