  1. I bought this because I liked the sound, the build quality, the quality comoponents (Hipshot ultralite tuners, Omega bridge), and the looks; but its a 35 inch scale which doesn't suit the post surgery limitations of my left shoulder so I'm afraid its got to go.

Weight on our new sophisticated bathroom scales is 4.4 Kg and it has 0% subcutaneous and visceral fat!.

    It looks as new.

Happy to post at buyers expense and risk, or meet up in London, or deliver/meet up within a reasonable driving radius.

There's no case or gig bag but I would post well packaged in a box.

  2. As part of the clearout up for grabs next is this BBE BMax-T pre amp. Like the Alembic I've also put up for sale I just don't use it any more.

The Alembic is a really premium preamp but this is no slouch either.

Its made in the USA with "mil spec" components, and has a warm punchy sound. It has a control called 'Sonic Maxixmizer' for which I have never seen an explanation I could get my head around but you can hear it definitely fattens up the sound in a way that I liked.

Although I generally favoured the Alembic I did use this on many occasions instead and if you want a good preamp for a lot less money this is a great choice.

It has spent its life in a flight case and I would describe the condition as excellent with but there could be perhaps the faintest of surface blemishes here or there from flight case insertion or removal.

Several years ago I enquired with BBE in the US regarding the appropriate foot switch it would need to use the switching function and they sent one to me for free!! If I can find that it will be included in the sale.

Collection or meet up in London/East Sussex/West Kent.  I could post but would need to research the cost.

  3. Last price drop. If it doesn't sell soon I'll hook it up to a lightweight power amp and just sound great myself.

    The clearout continues...

Surely one of the best preamps around, I've had this a number of years but just not used it recently.

Its never missed a beat and is in very good cosmetic condition apart from the left hand (as you look at the front panel) mounting flange which was slightly bent by the previous owner. It doesn't affect the integrity of the casing or mounting and is barely noticeable particulalrly in a flight case which is where I have kept it since I bought it. There are also a few extremely minor surface abrasions on top/bottom.

...or you can get a new one for 2,790 Euros (today = £2,423.27) from https://www.station-musicshop.de/epages/64398533.sf/en_GB/?ObjectID=50587199.

I know! I'm robbing myself! Why not take advantage of my stupidity for an early Christmas present?

Free power lead with every purchase.

Collection or meet up in London/East Sussex/West Kent. Postage an option but would need to find out cost.IMG_20231101_141558407_HDR.thumb.jpg.725f170a35e0a418b3c9f9052d3049b8.jpgIMG_20231101_141714203.thumb.jpg.6ae6f5ee268cdaf13ebbf112fde19f13.jpgIMG_20231101_141623746_HDR.thumb.jpg.5bad38163d7ed65ef096e882f33585bd.jpgIMG_20231101_141640434_HDR.thumb.jpg.e90147bd52e75e3741364a39821dcc09.jpg

Nestling up to my BBE BMax T which will also be up for sale:

  4. Ashdown Superfly.

    Blurb from Ashdown website...:

Ashdown Engineering’s extraordinary new Superfly combines a sophisticated programmable bass preamplifier and a powerful 500 Watts RMS power section in a compact bass amp head that weighs in at just 10 pounds. A product of the innovative Ashdown Labs development programme, the Superfly is gifted with a powerful, authoritative sound with a strong, controlled bottom end and clear, precise highs, all courtesy of an advanced digital power amp section.

Programming the preamplifier is an intuitive and straightforward process. The user can store 69 programmes comprising of input level, 7-band graphic equalisation and compression settings, and switch them via any MIDI-compatible pedal to achieve an exceptional degree of live performance control on stage.

    Specification

Slight scratching as shown on pictures. Its never missed a beat when I've gigged it but I've got several amps and a clear out has begun. Apparently the side casings can be removed to reduce weight and running temperature.

Case is in good shape but with a few minor scratches.

Postage an option at buyers expense and risk.

P/ex Sire, Sterling, (WHY) bass, plus cash?

  5. I know this topic has gone into hibernation for a few years but it still intrigues me.

I have a well grounded P bass that hums slightly if I don't touch a metal component/strings (suggests shielding required) but the hum also disappears if the volume is fully down (makes sense) AND also when fully up (???!).

Any electromagnetic experts out there have an explanation for the max volume hum elimination behaviour?

  6. Longer term Baschat members may have seen this on the site back in 2018 at £1100. Today its on at an inflation busting £900  850  800!!!

Potentially trade for a 5 string PJ bass?

A beautifully made bass with rock solid build quality and high quality parts and plating. I'm only selling as it covers similar territory to a twin humbucker Shuker I had made and I allegedly own too many basses.

The following details are copied verbatim from the 2018 ad when it was in the posession of a proper pro musician. I'm trusting that the precision of the weight given means he had access to much better scales than I have in my bathroom.

    Neck: Bolt-on Canadian hardrock maple
    Fretboard: 24 frets
    Scale: 864 mm/34"
Body: mahogany and rarewood imbuia top
    Finish: matt
Pickups: 2 Sandberg powerhumbucker - switched split coil on bridge pickup
    Preamp: Sandberg 3-band, active/passive
Neck width at nut: 1 ¾”/45mm
    String spacing at nut: 8mm
String width at bridge: 2 ⅞”/73mm
    String spacing at bridge: 18mm
    Weight: 4.11kg/9.06lb

Comes with a Sandberg gig bag

It has a small number of very minor blemishes as shown in the photos for full dislosure; they aren't very noticeable against the grain of the bass.

I'll ship boxed and in the gig bag within the UK at buyer's expense and risk, or could meet up within a reasonable distance of Tunbridge Wells or in London.

Of all the basses I've sold this is the one I'm most reluctant to let go of so there's a slight chance I might withdraw it if my herd thinning resolve weakens....
