I've searched through this thread but I haven't seen anyone ask how this pedal handles playing octaves in quick succession.

The only 2 pedals that can track those that I know of are the the latest Boss Synth pedal and Digitech Bass synth Wah (which I bought from my friend and yours @Al Krow ).  However, I'm not a fan of the synth sounds available on those.  If this can do that, it will tick all the boxes.

Give me a bassline or tune to listen and I'll try it for you.

  2. Not a live clip application but sharing this:

Don't mind the last line of this Chaka Khan classic

    24k Magic

Not sure if there are K-Pop listeners here in Basschat but was trying to emulate the moog sound in the record. MXR bass synth in the Anagram's FX Loop. Adding a preamp(gentle/Noble) after made it sound full. It decays nicely before it glitches out. Also good to note to tweak the Glide and Tracking parameter. Press and hold voice knob and tweak the resonance knob for the Glide and do the same when you press and hold the Shape switch for the Tracking. The Glide parameter smoothens your portamento or pitch slide between notes, allowing for smooth transitions or more pronounced effects. I still have a hard time doing quick runs or maybe I'm just a bad player haha

I feel like that video does the MXR dirty a little... as a pedal it does need a little practice to 'show' it the information it needs to generate the synth lines. The more I experiment the happier I'm getting, and whilst i still love my Moog, I'd have the MXR over a Novation BS any day already, and will leave the Moog at home now more than I would have!

Had a fun little dep at the weekend...

Does your switch have two TS cables or one TRS? One of the dual switches might still work if it is TRS.

my friend is giving this to me next week, not sure if this will work as I’ve only seen the mxr switch used on the bass synth.

my patch cable is ts only

  5. Planned setup. Still thinking if I should go with an external comp or not. But yeah, pretty much either of the 2 iterations. I’ve fully embraced on my Anagram setup nad loving it. Just need a good synth and the MXR will fill that.

Got mine. The 1st 4 pre sets are worth the £300 on their own. Really easy to use with tap switch to change presets . I’ve been waiting since the 80s for these sounds. TE told me it couldn’t be done! Well done MXR !

Is it only that tap tempo switch that works for the mxr bass synth or can I use like a moaly dual foot switch?

I think when I finally get my hands on one, I’ll have to dial up the same presets on the FI4 and post a comparison.

Just wanna say most of my C4 presets, I got from you!

Would love to hear your initial opinions or maybe even a comparison with the FI, C4, EHX Micro synth, if you have any :D

I don't have any of them at the moment but I still remember the feel and reponse of my previous C4 in terms of how it reacts to my playing nuances, left and right hand technique. I would say, this feels natural when I play it. When you play quick passages/runs even on stacatto notes, it responds well/better than C4(even the best presets that I liked).

The port on the side can be used with a tap to change through the presets and you can also use the man footswitch by holding it down, according to the manual on page 6 https://www.jimdunlop.com/content/manuals/MB301.pdf  There is a lot of functionality that wasn't mentioned on the videos it seems.

yeah I love the switching preset function with the main foot switch. And you get new knob parameters when you hold the voice or shape switch.

  10. Straight out of the box, you get useable synth/moog sounds! It’s not hard to dial in and I think this responds better than most of the presets I liked in my C4. Anyway, here’s my small board project.

Coming from years of experience with other Dingwalls (including Supers), if this is truly the one thing that’s keeping you from bonding with the SP1, I‘d suggest wiring the bridge pickup itself in parallel (I’d assume it’s in series from the factory to be able to compete with the P-pickup - can anyone confirm?)

You will lose output, but gain clarity and highs - which I understand is what you’re missing at the moment.

Ah you described it exactly what I’m missing. Do I just tell my tech to wire the bridge pickup in parallel? Planning to convert it to vol vol tone config as well just so I can mix the pickups like I always do on my PJs.

  12. I’m mostly a P guy all the way and wanted to try the P+J settings both in series and parallel on my SP1. I just couldn’t get along with it, sounds very humbucker-ish to me vs a more traditional PJ(for reference I like the Yamaha BBP35 PJ tone). J tone solo I got no problem, I can get a nice fat Jaco-ish tone. It’s just the PJ setting.

Anything I can do to make it sound at least closer to a traditional PJ? Will changing the config to vol vol tone make a difference or do I have to change bridge pickup that has different character which I don’t mind.

There is an awesome Behringer Brassmaster NAM available at tone3000. My go to fuzz with the anagram.

Could someone do some NAMs of a Capo? :D

I'll check that out! I'm also using a DCX and B15 NAM which I really like! The DCX sounds exactly like my DCX. It's good to know that there's Tone3000 available to check out and it's free!
