  2. Hi, thanks for the welcome! I had some time this morning to take a few pics of my home-build. I built this when I was 18 and really didn't have much of a clue (no internet to get info then!) The body is flame maple with ebony inlays and a rock maple bolt-on neck with rosewood fingerboard [edit: actually I thinks it's ebony!]. I had a local guitar maker make up the neck for me, which he did to my specs and did it very well! It feels lovely to play. A guy called Kent Armstrong made the pickups for me. The controls are a switch between active/passive, 3-way switch between pickups (either/both), main volume knob, passive tone knob, active eq control. The bridge and machine heads are Schaller. [attachment=24269:DSC_0010.JPG] [attachment=24270:DSC_0012.JPG] [attachment=24273:front.jpg] The body is contoured which you can kinda see in these pics: [attachment=24271:DSC_0015.JPG] [attachment=24272:DSC_0017.JPG] I made the body as thin as possible to keep the weight down, so it's very light. It was a complete fluke that the balance turned out just right. Cheers SD
  3. Hi Just found this site recently, looks good! I've been playing bass for 24 years since I was 10. Played in just about every kind of band until I stopped playing for a few years. Got back into it 3 or 4 years ago, and play in a band that does about 50% rock covers and 50% originals. All good fun! We enjoy gigging about once a month and recording when we can. I play a big chunk of wood I put together when I was 18. It's the only bass I play live, but I also have a nice Fender acoustic and an Aria Pro fretless. I go through a GK 1001 RB-II into a GK Neo-115, via a Line 6 podXT. I'm just hoping to keep on learning...! Cheers SD
