Ah... may look into those Wilkos.
-
No... not at all... My 62 Jazz was a 'case inhabitant' for at least two decades before I started playing it again... defret and active electronics later it was my go to.. so lovely.
Slight financial prob .later and I had to get it valued... Vintage Guitars in Bath... 4 grand. (there's a story here).
Now I'm thinking of a refret and stacked knobs... that will cost no doubt. And devalue more... no probs really.. I bought in 78 for 280 squids... I don't really want to see it go, but still want to play it.
Think I may keep it fretless though. -
Oh my... Im still moved to tears about letting my 78 go... btw... don't contour!
Are they both yours Rodney? -
I was lucky enough to find a used Fender Precision on Ebay £250... bit of a gamble but turned out to be a cracker.
-
How does it play? My 78 Ray was in a similar state but played very nice!
-
It's an easy fix with a bit of dowl... happened to me on a couple of occasions.
-
Hah.. my 62 has a black poly refin... looks the same as when I bought it in 79! No mons for a repaint.
-
No... I tend to try to play as loud as the drums.. enough said. My Ashdown will burn and my Ampeg will just die.
I am barred now from PMT in Oxford.
Passive is fine on my Precisions... the DM's don't cut it though. -

I've been a bit non plussed with mine, although active they're stunning. Going back to passive though as I'm getting too many repair bills for my rigs. The east is too hot I figure.
Vintage style and stack knobs. -
Anyone tried these? ...

I would like to swap out my DiMarzios for some vintage style. -
Yes... blimey... and sonic blue is my fave ever colour... even over salmon pink!
I'd have to take the frets off one of them though. -

Anyone after swapping their stack knobs for vvt?

Oh brother! Sigh. -
Ah... might give that a go. I love the vibe but usually remove the pup cover for gigs.
Great photos btw. -
Tis a thing of outrageous beauty... did you gig it with the covers?

Particularly on vintage instruments where the dots have sucked up the oils from the wood and are nearly the same colour as the neck!
[/quote]
exactly... the dots on my old jazz have disappeared... -
A friend of mine has a clear one on his MM Stingray... looks superb!
-
Does it have the 'hump'?
-
Ah... just noticed that... is odd? Hardly a replica without the old BBOT. Strange move by fender.
-
Looks ver nice... burst and tort is a classic.
-
I can't see it!
-
Finished?
-
I got the frets stoned down on my 62... why? because I want to play it.
-
This is slighty off topic... but my 62 is scrapping the active and going for stacked pots... might save my speakers!
My East pre is just too powerful!
A re-relic is in order.. to be continued... -
yes... missed that.. a side plugger.
just get the right one for your bass... they are there.
