1. Well it doesent look diffrent? would I beable to tell for sure?
2. I am really confused. Ok I cant seem to get a straight neck there is always buzz but the part that really confuses me is I only have buzz on my A and D and I can have my E and my G set as low as the action will go with no buzz but My A and my D buzz like crazy. And does anyone have anytips on seeing how much relief/backbow you have?
3. haha I just thought maybe it could be bad for a amp??
4. I have a peavey combo 210tx amp with the detachable cabinet under it. This has built in compression but I read on a site not to use it to much? Why wouldent I use it to much? will it harm my amp in anyway? I like the smooth tone I get out of it. It seems to fatten up the higher notes.
5. Well, Lol my Dad knows what he's doing. Although he was in a rush he couldent really find anything out of the norm... Thats why I decided to ask you guys to see if there was a specieal thing to look for.

7. My bass teacher was telling me that walking bass is really simple and not much too it. Now that I look at it I think he was wrong. Any one else here think walking the bass is one of the most knowledge demanding style there is?
8. Nevermind must have been tired last night on second look the other note is upper becuase what came before it.
9. Maybe I didint understand what your trying to say but what I dont get is how does the G change to a lower dominant to ahigh dominant ? when it pretty much sits in the middle
10. Ok so Im looking at my walking bassline book when I turn to dominant approach page now there is something that is confusing me out of my mind {C,D,E,F){G}(A,B,C} {Upper } ( 5){ Low} Theres a nice little key I made for me. Anyway So in the book theres a peice that goes something like this... It starts with a C the goes to a D Upper/Dominant (It illustrates if its a Upper aproach or Low approach then it goes to the fifth G Low/Dominant So my question is in a few bars later it says the G is a Upper dominant? How can I tell if it is a Upper dominant or low dominant?
11. Whoah scary =/ I just talked to a once again highly reccomended tech and he told me that the correct way to do it is to take the strings of and then put a back bow on the neck then continue adjusting from there. This is the opposite of what I did for most of mine. I loosened the strings for most the times but then the finishing touches I just kept the strings tight. Now I also have been wondering why my truss rod feels a little sticky mind you I have my bass set up the way I like it now. But it feels a little jolty unlike my bros guitar which is smooth as silk. Is this becuase its a bass? Should I put a drop of household oil into the hole were I put the wrench in? The truss hole
12. Oh and now the action is really low and only with strong attack do any of them buzz
13. My truss rod didint turn perfectly smooth like my brothers guitars truss did. But I had a highly reccomended tech work on mine once before and he didint say anything bad about the truss rod being bad. Would you worry?
14. The Gary willis website says you have to help the truss rod out and place your knee on the back ect in order to tighten it. However I did not do that. Is that going to mess up my neck?
15. I just cant seem to get this thing perfect I am adding more relief to it and I think I am getting too much or something. But I don't know and whenever I seem to get the lower frets rights the higher ones won't even ring. Please help any bassic ways of doing it? any tips any good sites I am not worrying that I will break it I just need to get this think running again.
16.
Congratulations....... you've picked the best instrument to play !!! What's your goal ? if it's just to have fun play a few tunes along to records or even to join a covers band, I'd say it's not cheating at all to get a start by using Tabs. After all it's a resource to learn.... Picking out songs by Ear can be really difficult without a good working knowledge of the fretboard to go along with that great sense of pitch !! OK Boring stuff now but you really really can't ignore scales....... Major, Minor, Pentatonic need to be grasped as they are (usually) the ones of most use. Not only is the knowledhe of these scales really usefull for building basslines and jamming, but they build up your fretboard knowledge and help with ear training. Also they get your hands in shape and build muscle memory and dexterity which you'll need to play some of the more challenging stuff you'll want to have a crack at..... Unless you want to do session / theatre work (IMHO) reading music isn't essential but still very very worthwhile, I wish i'd bothered my ass earlier in life.... the older you get the harder it seems to be to grasp complicated stuff !! Good Luck ! Marcus Good Luck
Well I know theory. I don't wan't to say I know the fretboard perfectly but if you name a note I can find it and I know Pentatonics, Majors, Minors and a few modes. But modes still really confuse me. I also know some arpeggios and chords.
17. I dont play guitar and I cant get enough of him =) lol. But the bassist Tommy Shannon is something else aswell.
18. Well I have been trying to develop my ear (I have only been playing for 7 months) and I am working on the texas flood cd by SRV (Stevie Ray Vaughan). When I get stuck at a part of the tune I will check out the tab I would like to be able to get all songs strictly by ear someday but I am just starting out. Do you guys think its all right to look at the tab when I get stuck at a part in the song?
19. Ever listen to Stevie Rauy Vaughans bassist? Hes pretty good. I thougt all he did was the normal blues bass pattern but he throws in lots of intresting stuff in his lines.
20. Name of a few albums that you love to play along with. What genre of music it is, Whos the bassist and what are some of the songs on there you find the best. Mother ship connections by Parliament. Genre: Funk Bassist: Bootsy Collins Hit Songs We've got the funk (Not the real name but youll recognize it this way) Night of the thumpasaurus P.S Sorry for all my random posts but it seems like you guys have had fun with most of them.
21. Well Im in the U.S you guys are just cool lol. And I have checked it up with the people (friends getting me the job and his family works there) that I think im gonna save about 1500$ and get myself a decent bass and then stop.
22. Ok so, Im 16 I could get a job this summer at a plastic factory and make 9.50 A hour and I would be working 9 hours a day everyday but sunday and I have it calculated that by the end of the summer I could easily have a Made in America Fender jazz Along with a Nice ampeg 800 watt amp and a 1000 watt ampeg head. I woulent have much time to play and I would be dead tired considering this is alot of work. My friends are telling me to just not get a job and play with what I have. I have been playing for 8 months. I have a MIM fender precision with a badass bridge two and seymour duncans. I have a 300 watt half stack peavey amp. Now should I stay home and get better or buy equipment for the future?
