I always say the Roland Microcube RX is unbeatable. Reliable, great sounds from the amp modelling, built-in FX and compression, and a drum machine. Plus it will handle a low B adequately.

If anyone has issues with Ashdown gear, feel free to contact me. I can get it sorted easily.

Has anyone had their subscription copy? The interview with Randy Hope-Taylor, Winston Blissett, etc just cuts off before its natural end.

I just feel lucky to be able to play good music to people that appreciate it.

Does anyone remember the spat he had with Alphonse Mouzon many years back, especially about Alphonse playing in stack heels?

On the early Beatles songs - which were my era - I can't hear anything special at all. I've often heard people mention him, but can't hear anything different from the other 60s bands.

Please enlighten me to something that he did that was special.

I think he's great but slightly overrated. Later stuff was very good.

OK, so I'm biased, but whenever I plug in a Jazz bass I instantly think: 'Will it do a Marcus?' I'm sure I'm not alone in this.

This is going to be the most ongoing debate ever in the history of Basschat, and it's never going to be resolved. Maybe people who think Marcus is famous for his slap playing will (hopefully) check out his back catalogue and realise there is much more to him. Same with Victor Wooten.

I suggest you look at the live DVD 'Jack Of All Trades', which includes interviews with eminent bass players and a live concert with Marcus and his truly sublime band.

The comments from the other players say it all. He's a great person and a great multi-talented musician.

Give it a go.

This DVD is the best one out there. Been around for years. Foolproof if you stick to each exercise.

No noticeable tonal difference IMO. Maple just feels better to me.
