1. I first saw them in the 70s. A local music store put on a launch at a venue in Stoke. Loads of us sat there looking at a wall of these new amps. The lights dimmed and the amps were switched on. You could literally hear the sound of money coming out of pockets.

I bought a 100w head and installed it in my outhouse. I used to practise with the lights off, and was amazed by the luminous green display.

    The amp sounded sh*t.

  2.
Yes, I used to think the same until I started learning the parts, especially from the mid era (Rubber Soul, Revolver, White Album) :)
I'm probably wrong. :)

  3. Apologies if this has appeared before.

    I don't get Cliff Burton's widdling.

As a huge Beatles fan I think McCartney is a songwriting god, but his bass parts are nothing special. Am I missing something?

Jaco is great, especially on this clip. Top of his game.

  4.
like that Pete.. prefer it over the original... cant see that bass player doing anything wrong at all.. hes doing everything right imo.. but it is Freddy Fluellen
Can't see a problem with the bassist.

  5. I get asked this all the time in the shop. The obvious answers are a hard case, better woods, pickups, hardware, and maybe more hand-finishing, etc. But, to be honest, the differences are hard to spot these days, especially with the quality of instruments produced outside the USA. Doddy had a Squier Classic Vibe 51 P off me today, and the quality was superb.

I got the Sage brochure through the post the other day. Flicking through... suddenly, BAM. Pete's grinning up at me from the bottom of the page. Nearly Dan, Saturday 10th September, Hall Two. Hope I might be able to make it along this year. Shame you're up against Brian Wilson in Hall One on the same night though. :)
Brian Wilson? Who's he? :)

I like this more than EWF themselves, as I don't trust them to be playing totally live.

    These guys are totally awesome.

  8. Moving on from the Japanese EWF tribute, this is Al McKay's band.

Have a look at this and other related vids.

    Absolutely nailed!

Beauty is in the eye of the dog owner.

  11. Love 'em or hate 'em, you have to admit these basses are unique.
