You're unlikely to nail that sound with the Bartolinis, I suspect.

Best you could do would be to add a little bass and cut a bit of treble (onboard EQ), use only the front pickup, play over the pickup, and ideally strap on some tapewound strings.

I'd forget the Behringer/Digitech...

That'll be any Ibanez SR/SRX (or of course a DWB3, like the one I have up for sale )

Lower-price...

You might need to correct phase - if it sounds weedy and hollow when both running, you'll need a phase change on one or the other ... (swapping the polarity on the 15" cab would be the easiest)

No, basically Bill is suggesting you have a passive high-pass filter on the 2x10 (to remove the lower frequencies that are probably causing your distortion) and perhaps a matching low-pass passive for the 15".
As he notes, you're unlikely to find one ready-made, and will have to DIY....

The alternative (better) option he suggested first is that you go active - which requires another power amp (or complete head) *plus* an active crossover unit.

It might be easier replacing the 210 or the head - (whichever is most responsible for the crack-up) with something else...

I've noticed the same myself - the SansAmp seems a perfect first device for passive basses, but you need to drop the bass output considerably (and turn up your rig) for actives (specifically an Ibanez with EMGs) or they start sounding pretty fuzzy.

I think it's got quite a bit to do with loading at the input (actives wouldn't be affected to the same degree as they're low impedance/higher power).

I've ended up using it at the end of my pedal chain, using a DHA VT1 as the first pedal, and that seems to work with everything...

Ported (reflex) cabs need to be matched to drivers, so if you already have a cab, you need to figure out (at least) the resonant frequency of the port....

I have finally decided (having fitted new Elixirs and battery, had a weeks holiday...) that this - my former pride and joy I'd *never* sell - has to go.

I've discovered that I'm a precision-neck man, and I get cramp when playing this now.

It sounds fantastic! (EMG P and J pickups), and is in great condition other than some minor play wear (light surface scratching on the body finish over the front pickup mostly - it would probably be unnoticable with a bit of T-Cut - but I shan't be doing that.)

The body wings are ash, the neck is maple/bubinga and the fretboard is also bubinga (I think).

There are no real negative issues regarding this instrument...
It's never been gigged, and only made a few journeys out of the house for lessons.
It comes with an Ibanez hard case, in as-new condition.
It has gold Schaller straplocks fitted - I'll supply the original strapknobs too.

Issues any purchaser would need to be aware of are:

It's got a slim neck
It's quite heavy at around 8 1/4 lb

I'm not really after trades, as I now have two precision-type basses which covers my current requirements, but if someone wants to exchange a USA precision bass, perhaps with some cash adjustment either way, give me a shout.
(It's the only bass I *know* I'll be able to get along with...)

You can get one of these new for £589 at GAK, I'd like £350...

Agreed with everything really...

I use 3 rechargeables in rotation for individual pedals I might be playing with at home (mainly a BD121 into the PC), and they have saved me significant money, but I'd never use one in a bass - or a pedal in rehearsal/live.

The ones I have are NiMH and they're either 170 or 200mAh (milliAmp-hours) capacity.
For comparison, even the cheapest Alkalines run 550mAh...

I'd add the ToneFactor 442b - if you can find one... (ToneFactor are now called MojoHand I think)

I have a BassIQ as well - its great advantage is having a reverse mode (Awh rather than Wah, if you follow me)- but the ToneFactor is definitely my fave filter so far...

When I was comparing, only the Yamaha MSP5s and the Samsons (Resolv65s I think) really impressed me - I listened to about 8 pairs in total...
I was particularly unimpressed with the Alesis (just 'limp' somehow) and Behringer (warm and wooly)

I ended up getting the MSP5s, but the Samson's would have been my next choice, and they're in your price range - but I'd guess those Yamaha HS50Ms would be good too.
Try and get to hear as many as you can, and take the CD you want to hear with you

Both virtually unused (domestic only), and in perfect working order.

Have original box, manuals etc. for the Amp, miscellaneous box and reprinted manualfor the DI.

Looking for about £23 (posted) for the DI, and £35 (posted) for the Headphone Amp.
(I'm reckoning around £4 each for postage, so deduct that if you can pickup from Brighton/Hove.)

I'd advise not buying the amp if you're intending using headphones less than say 32-60 ohms if you'll be cranking it up - definitely *no* 8/16 ohm cans!
