Can you put the bass in and out from  a standing position with that one?

Yes I can - it has a strap which holds the neck and fastens with velcro - it's easy enough to reach in, unstick the strap and pull the bass out.

Edit: It's easier to extract a bass than put one in in the upright position. The case is probably not stiff enough to put the bass in while upright - I always put it in while the case is laid down.

Got some arriving tomorrow from Amazon....I bet they're totally different from the old ones

And yes they were - they were hard plastic and too tight to fit on the shafts (oooeeer Mrs).....I await the e-bay purchase which apparently are soft touch and due tomorrow...

...according to Douglas Adams, the trick is to keep rubbing the sticks together** 😉

(** ...could never get that to work for me)

Have you got a link for those?

  4. Got some arriving tomorrow from Amazon....I bet they're totally different from the old ones but it's only a fiver and from a gift token balance anyway.

I was hoping someone might know the exact knob that Dave Hall used but I've trawled CPC, Farnell, RS, Amazon, Ebay, and haven't found exactly the same knobs.

  5. Does anyone know where I can get replacement knobs to exactly match those on my Dave Hall Amps VTI-EQ-DI-Bass-Mk2 ?

I seem to have lost one somehow.

Pic of pedal - it's the pink one :

  6. Hmmm I wish I had read this yesterday.

I put an order in with Thomann last night, my first for 4 years.

I ordered an Empress Bass Compressor - it was £50 cheaper from Thomann than Anderton's.

    Fingers crossed.

  7. I bought something from the Netherlands on 10th March which was couriered via DHL.

The online tracking shows that it cleared customs on 15th March and has shown as 'Planning being made' after 'Departure from the international sorting center'  ever since. (today is 5th May)

I managed to get a Paypal refund after starting a dispute for non-delivery.

The vendor was extremely reluctant and only refunded after a nasty trustpilot review.

I wonder if my purchase will ever arrive?

  8. I have a BBE Opto Stomp pedal on my board doing compressor duties...or rather I did until the thing fell apart. - I suppose I could put it back together but tbh I can't be arsed.

I found it very subtle and actually wasn't a great fan of it.

I'm looking to replace it but I'm out of touch with what's available these days.

So could you give me some pointers for an easily controllable compressor that will fit in the space left by the BBE Opto Stomp on my pedal board.

    Budget isn't really an issue.

What's out there and how do they sound?

Remember buying the single version of this in 1981, but can't find on youtube (seems it's worth £50+! I'm rich!). So here it is, in all its glory, from the album:

I enjoyed the creations of Mr Thirlwell

    try this one for size:

I know from personal experience that you need to pay for a Swiss road tax licence for your vehicle to drive into Switzerland (if they decide to stop you).

Particularly galling in my case as it was a french hire car and I was only going to Geneva airport which is just over the border. Probably driving in Switzerland for less than 30 minutes, but had to buy a six month tax disc.

Untrue -it only applies if you use Swiss motorways.

If you cross the border on a back road you are not required to purchase a vignette.

I have crossed Switzerland several times and never paid for a vignette as I never used any motorways.
