1.
It's a 5 string natural single cut, I should hate this but I think it's wonderful.
i normally hate single cuts, but this is gorgeous. just wish i had like 2 grand

  2. I've been agonizing over this for a while, but i dont play it and i'm sure someone else out there will appreciate it a lot more.

Its the top of the line SB1000 model. Its a lined fretless, think its from 80/81 period but i think i might be wrong. It's in fairly good nick but there are a few marks and dings, but otherwise good condition. I've had the jack replaced with a genuine part and all the electronics are in good condition.

I'd like [s]£600[/s] [s]£550[/s] [s]£500[/s] £450 (bit of a bargain i feel...) for it but i'm also open to trades - I'd love a Musicman Stingray or Sterling (with cash your way) or a cab, but i'll consider pretty much anything so just PM me

  3.
The OBP to go for is the OBP-2SK, it has the stacked bass/treble so you'd be ok with 3 controls

Personally i'd prefer to have a mid control, the one on mine (OBP-3SK/PP) sounds great, i think my 2-band Warwicks cound really do with a mid-control

By all accounts every Aguilar pre-amp is gonna sound sweet, just depends on wether you like 2 or 3 band eqs. If you really don't want to drill extra holes in the bass have you thought about an outboard pre-amp?

The Tonehammer is basically an OBP3 in a box with extra features:
    http://www.aguilaramp.com/products_preamps_tonehammer.htm
I've always liked 3 band eq's but i've not had much luck with the previous two 3 bands in basses. I dont want to drill a hole through the front if i dont need to so the OPB2 looks like a good bet :)

Yeh i had a goosey at the tonehammer, but the fact that this is onboard really appeals to me, iv asked for a quote for the fitting so we'll see how it all matches up

  4.
If you need a stacked bass/treble, mid, volume and blend then surely you'll still need to have an extra hole drilled?
I might just get the OBP2. I know it fits and the reviews have been quality. Would i be fine getting either of the models?

  5.
The TK/PP has separate treble and bass pots with the push/pull mid pot. This needs 4 control routes on the front of the bass for 4 pots - the 3 I've mentioned plus the volume. The SK/PP only needs 3 as the treble and bass pots are stacked into 1. Most Corvettes from this era only had 3 pots? I might be wrong, but if you only have 3 then it's the SK/PP that you need to go for if you're trying to keep it as simple as possible.
My bad! Yeh mine has 3 controls on it so i shall make sure to get the SK/PP. Nearly shot myself in the foot there lol

  6.
f you need someone excellent to do routing n stuff in your bass, go to The Guitar Doctor @ Kay's Music in Hanley, Stoke on Trent. I saw you were from Crewe and as im local as well and know the guy very well and he is awsome!
Nice one mate! I'll take it there to get the OBP fitted, thats a massive help.

  7.
Sounds good. I'd recommend wiring it as 18V to get the best out of it though. If your Corvette has 3 pots on it already then it's probably the OBP-3SK/PP version that you want to go for as this would be the most straightforward installation, i.e. you won't have to do any routing/drilling. This version has the stacked Bass/Treble pot with the push/pull mid pot.
wouldnt that be the OPB3TK/PP?

  8.
You definitely won't need any routing doing mate. The Warwick control cavities are big enough for the pre + 2 9v batteries. I'll take a pic of mine and post it here sometime over the next couple of days for you to have a look at.
That would be awesome! Thats taken a massive load off my mind now :) how hard are the OP's to fit?

  9.
I've got an OP2 (might be an OP1 , I can't remember ) in my SSI. It's running at 18V and sounds great with EMG pups
Hmmm, just having a read about the OPB2 it does sound a bit tempting with it saying its designed to fit into smaller control cavities... I'd still probably need a battery box routing though. They all sound so tempting!!

  10.
I've got a 96 Corvette modified with EMG active pups, and an EMG circuit (3 band cut and boost, with a sweepable mid). Sounds great to me, lots of tonal variation.
Yeh, i reckon that or maybe the MEC circuit would definitely be plan B. Love EMG pickups but iv never really tried one of their circuits, but im guessing it'd be pretty top notch

  11.
Hiya, still got the Corvette! Good stuff.

I've posted basses to the Gallery with no problems at all. Good move getting it upgraded, its what I would have done.
Hey, yeh iv still got the vette. Bloody love it too, just think it's got a bit more potential and doing this should make me even happier with it

  12.
I can't think of anywhere I'd have that done other than The Bass Gallery.
I was thinking the exact same, only problem is its a bit of a distance. Do you know if i could just post them my bass and then have it posted back when the works complete?

  13.
You may be looking at having a cavity routed for a double battery box tbh
Well if it means i get what i want out of my bass then it might be the only way really. Just got to find somewhere that will do the routing and fit the preamp now then..

  14.
I've posted this before, but I upgraded the preamp on my mid-nineties Streamer to a Aguilar OP1 a few years back.

The results were brilliant and i can't recommend it enough.

The Aguilar is a tight fit (it has 2 batteries compared to the Warwick single battery), but it does squeeze in. I paid a bloke that knew what he was doing which was worthwhile for me. But then again, I'm both slow and hamfisted!

    Go for it!
Looks like i'll probably be going for the OPB-2/3. just a bit worried about whether it will fit, the corvette has a rather large cavity but im just wondering whether it will need some routing done, to house the battery :/

  15. I've got a 1996 Warwick Corvette, im really happy with the bass and its one of the basses i know i'll keep for a long time, but recently i've become a bit tired of the passive electronics and want to try something new. So i want to get an active circuit, but i have absolutely no idea whats good etc

so i'm just after a bit of advice - iv thought of the MEC active circuits but iv heard the Aguilar OBP's are good too!

    help needed lol

  16. roger manganelli is probably my second favourite bassist (after Alex Katunich) and matt wong etc. Waynepunkdude will definitely agree with these bassists too! Losing Streak by LTJ opened my eyes to just how good he was, there's not a track on that album that i dont love and the bass is just...wow!
