1.
May I ask the obvious question? What was it you were looking for and why did these disappoint?
I didn't find them as warm as I thought. Don't get me wrong they sounded very nice and very clean, especially up the dusty end of the bass.
They were fitted in a cheap bass which could have been part of the problem but the stock ones were just that little bit warmer so I had them put back in.

I was going to hang on to them for a different project and probably will if they don't go.

2. I have a nearly new set of these for sale

I can photograph the actual ones if you want but they are the same.
They have been fitted into a bass for about 2 weeks but they weren't what I was looking for.
They are in excellent working condition but without the box.
They cost me a ton.

Who'll give me £50?

3.
i do wish people would stop harping on about Fenders build quality, there's absolutley nothing wrong with the quality of modern MIA Fenders, they are built as good as any other mass produced instrument of the same price range, escepially the american deluxe range, the MIJ/CIJ stuff is very good & consistant too.
when i bought my deluxe P bass i tried several Sandbergs & EBMMs back to back with it & i much prefered the P bass & it is as well built as any of them.
my Jazz is the best Jazz i've ever played -period.
my 62 reissue P is bloody gorgeous.
shure some of the MIM stuff is sh*te but some of it is bloody good.the odd MIA dog may slip through the QC net,do other brands not have the same problem ?
I know Fender went through some very hit or miss periods in the past,as the very worst Fender i've ever played as a 1974 Jazz bass, but the new stuff is excellent.
ok i've had my rant,
signed
Fender fanboy. ;)
+1

My last purchase was a New American Standard, from Soundslive so I didn't even try it. Its the dogs dangly's. I also have a 62 RI P which is beautiful to play and i will never sell it (I once said I would never own a P bass). I have a Lakland DJ4 which is also gorgeous but its different to the Fenders, slightly more modern sounding.

Of all the studio work I have ever done I have only ever been 100% happy with the sound once, it was a Jap Fender Jazz. I sold that and I really wish I hadn't.

I just sold a Kingbass because I grew tired of the clinical sound and found it lacked warmth when used with my original band. Its just a matter of taste, I'm sure there's a Fender out there for everyone. :P

I have major GAS for a Precision bass. I am pretty much down to two. The CIJ Fender 51 Re-issue Precision in Sunburst or the MIM Fender Precision 50's Classic Re-issue in Honey blonde.

I adore the look of the '51 precision but I already have 2 sunburst basses and a musicman in natural so I really don't want another sunburst. I also hate the butterscotch colour Fender do. I'm also a bit dubious about the sound out of the single pickup but until I hear it, I just won't know. As for the classic 50's precision. I adore the honey blonde colour and I have heard amazing things about this bass. My only concern is, its not the '51 which I adore the look off and worried that I will still be gassing for a 51' if I get the 50's classic precision.

My other option is the Mike Dirnt but I really want a maple neck and I can't be bothered to go into changing necks about.

Help me fellow basschatter. Your my only hope.

I had the Sting bass. Lovely to play sounded nice looked very very nice. Then I brought a 62 RI CIJ, sold the Sting bass.
I found the Sting bass very trebley (if thats a word) and the split pup 62 RI much warmer.
I do think the 50's p looks nicer though.

My old Sting bass is still for sale on here at the moment I think...

5.
£389 here - http://www.promenademusic.co.uk/details.asp?sku=7495
Blimey!

Lets just hope it sounds good.

Cheers

6.
I don't think these will be out for a couple of months yet. I can probably get hold of a rough release date though, I'll post it here if I do.
I've found them on a couple of sites for £412 but I don't know if they're in stock.
I think that sounds a good price if they're any good.

7. I used to be in a Level 42 tribute... I got it all out of my system. So much so I now play in a Police tribute. With my original band all the old tracks that were slapped to death are now finger played, with the odd pop here and there.
My tastes in basses and backline are all changing too in the quest for warmth and beautiful tone, my amp now sits with the graphic EQ flat instead of smiling at me from the back of the stage.

I think its called growing up although I still indulge in a bit of Mr Pink in the house... ;)

This is quite a good site for Fender serial numbers,
Here's what it said about this one... ;)
