Do you have a sample of the octave up/poly mode with bass chords? Not specifically covered in bass demos of the pedal around. Thanx!

Unfortunately no videos, I've since sold most of my Royal Blood style stuff but from what I remember it was really particular with chords and would have a fair few artifacts in the sound and some 'bassier' chords would freak it out but YMMV. Luckily for royal blood you dont need to use a massive amount of chords. If you do need to do chords it could be done or you could use a boss PS-6 as that can create chords from what Ive seen

  3. I've gone down this path and the set up I had was a little bear BS1 for fuzz, a tc sub n up for octave and a boss ls2. The boss ls2 is more expensive than a standard splitter but because it blends you don't need a separate amp

Little bear bs1 - around £30 from amazon

    Boss LS2 - around £40 off ebay

TC sub n up was around £50 off reverb

I also added a big muff tone wicker to get another flavor of fuzz but the little bear bs1 is a clone of the woolly mammoth which is similar to the mastotron that Mike Kerr used

Yeah it's moved a bit. Since the covid pandemic I think this is the chain of events...

Sold my MiJ Precision to fund the MIJ Jazz.

Bought an Aria SB Elite that I fixed up but ended up selling because I bought the Washburn Status.

    Built up a PJ Bitsa.

Bought a fretless Warwick but sold shortly after.

Sold the MIJ Jazz to @Bonin-in-the boneyard

    Bought an Epiphone Jack Casady.

Also in that time I've started and folded an 80s band, left the band I've been in since 2016 and joined an established local covers band.

I also bought and sold a Trace Elliot amp and have replaced my cabs with Ashdown ABM Neos. I shipped out my multi effects and got a Helix and have ended up building a board around it. Working at home 5 days a week for 2 years surrounded by music gear isn't so healthy I think!

I have lots of guests over in December and my office/ music room has the sofa bed. It was getting unwieldy so when it was £1 selling on eBay I put up the Washburn because it wasn't getting use and it sold at full value, not even an offer made! I was quite surprised, the price was highish but fair. The bitsa is also up but I'm really not bothered if it doesn't sell, it's coming to my gig tonight as a backup.

I want to keep to five basses at most, four ideally. If I get enough money in I might get a high end jazz bass, or just any Sire, I miss my old Sire a lot.

Ah yeah that was me on eBay, I’d been saving to get a Status but whilst I had a fair bit saved I still had quite a way to go so when I saw the Washburn it was the perfect opportunity at the perfect time. Was going to get an American jazz but instead went for the status and can honestly say that the bass plays beautifully and considering it’s a bit of a rarity and had a gig bag plus strings, the price was more than fair for the quality of bass, I’ve struggled putting it down

The B1-4 is one of the very best value pedals out there. Like mine so much, I've got two (one on my board and a spare as a headphone amp).

In terms of by-passing your amp's baked-in tone, what amp have you got and can you entirely by-pass the preamp on it? If not, will you still have some of your amp's baked-in tone even with the preamp EQ set flat?

But in any event, having an Ampeg sim effect in your signal chain should make the "end sound" more Ampeg-y even if you can't entirely eliminate your amp's baked in tone.

The amp I’m currently rocking is a peavey tko 115s which is a combo amp and the main amp section has an fx loop and preamp out/power amp in so hoping I could use those to bypass the amps tone shaping

  6. So I’m definitely going to side with the zoom b1 four over the Pod XT. If I do need to use my amp instead, could I use the amp modelling without any cab sim into my my amps power amp to use the ampeg sim tone not my amps baked in tone?

I used a zoom b2.1 (svt setting plus compression) through a PA and managed to make glasses fall off shelves. Have no fear, just do it

Oh cool that’s good to hear, I’m looking at using it almost as a preamp and change out different amp and cab presets depending on the song but would mainly use the Ampeg models

  8. Hi everyone,

I’ve got a show coming up at the 6th form I’m in and normally I’d use my bass amp however this time I’ve been told I’ll have PA support and so was looking at going ampless. I’ve narrowed my choices to the Zoom b1 four and the small Pod XT. I’m mainly going to be using it for amp and cab simulations and the effects won’t be used for the gig as I’ve got a pedalboard.

Does anyone have any experience using either of these and was wondering which one has better quality amps and cabs?
