Definitely a P-Bass. An old one, pre-CBS.

The annual X Factor thread. I don't like it, hate Simon Cowell, the influence he's had on younger musicians and their perceptions on music. But I also know where the off button is on my TV, which makes things easy dealing with stuff like this.

Only had one experience with him over the phone regarding a question about some TC gear he had in. Couldn't have been more enthusiastic, really helpful, seemed like he wanted to talk about TC stuff forever. Lovely guy, although the store is way too far away from me to drop in at the drop of a hat and I'm yet to meet the man in person.

It really is a good article, truthful and probably accounting for a large percentage of bass players who do make their hobby their vocation.

Seen this already but it really is great!

Give some people the benefit of the doubt, we can't all be walking musical encyclopaedias now can we and he's certainly played with a lot of British artists. This place can be terribly uptight at times.

I'm struggling to think who I could add to the list. Dave Bronze is excellent!

EDIT - yeh, Dave Bronze, Chris Wolstenholme, Colin Greenwood have to go on too.

Total rock rig, I absolutely love it.

I saw one up close in the Gallery and it looked kind of cheap.

I've used active and passive instruments recently, I still prefer passive instruments for the most part and it takes a very special onboard preamp to get me excited about using an active bass.

P-Basses and Jazz basses will be my staple instruments for a while to come yet, I love simplicity.

I wouldn't have any idea where to get hold of them now, I used to be part of the Zender forum when I was younger and they did the rounds. Can't remember exact details!

I think a lot of people including me will have to disagree with you on that! Collins is a good drummer and I'm not even a huge fan.

That's not right, Stuart Zender played on every single track of Emergency On Planet Earth, Return Of The Space Cowboy and Travelling Without Moving apart from two songs, 'When You Gonna Learn' (Andrew Levy, Stuart wasn't even in the band at this stage as far as I'm aware) and the [b]album [/b]version of Space Cowboy. He did play on the single version and every single song on the rest of the first three albums, no session players were brought in.

The latter track wasn't played on by Zender because he had taken time out of the studio to sort out his breakup with his then girlfriend. When he came back it turned out that Jay had gotten someone else to fill in for him. Zender was not too pleased.

Zender even played on most of the tracks for the 4th album Synkronized but when he was finally given the boot/left the band his tracks were erased or shelved and Nick Fyffe was brought into replace him. Some of the tracks were available a long time ago to listen to Zender's original recordings.

I'm the same when it comes to enjoying Gospel music but without the religious part.

Ironically it's usually the big hip hop guys that like to use the best of modern gospel players on their music. Mike Elizondo on bass for example on a lot of Dr. Dre's stuff, also his producer for a while.

Take a listen to Erykah Badu and (already noted) D'Angelo. And if you don't get round to listening to any of that then definitely listen to Robert Glasper, who I can't recommend enough

I'd guess it's the most iconic bass ever in relation to a specific person or band. They sound amazing, completely limited in what they can do but I've not heard any other instrument do what a Hofner can. Unique is the word. I love them.

That would be going into the U.S as opposed to leaving the U.S? I'll admit customs are tough at the U.S border but the times I've travelled out of the U.S back to the U.K and encountered literally no one at the customs desk has been 100% of the time.

To the OP, I wouldn't necessarily advise doing it but honestly I think the likelihood of you getting away with it is quite high, at least at the airport that I regularly use (Manchester).

He's said that it wasn't him, also Jamiroquai have all said that the bloke who played was full of his own self-importance and they didn't like him - RHT has since played with Jamiroquai on Dynamite so I guess it's unlikely.

I've always liked like WoT's sunburst collection.

Oh and Clarky's '63 P-Bass.

Exactly the same year and finish as my jazz down to those great block inlays w/rosewood neck, a great period for Fender bass guitars as well. You must be mad selling this! Great price too.

I'm so glad I will never be one of these people, I'm just not interested in being that much of a fanboy about anything at all. If a bass plays well and sounds good that's good enough for me.
