1. I never really use a plectrum, this is mostly down to never being able to find any of the damn things. Its rather more difficult to lose my fingers. I would definitely benefit from practising the auld plec' malarky though, sometimes its just fun to mess about playing like that. Sometimes its just needed for the music you're playing.
2. Neil Harland is a well known and very skilled player and teacher based in Newcastle, if you can't find info for him I can get a number or e-mail address for him if you want it.
3. It might be a little bit of shameless self promotion but...this may be of some assistance http://www.musicouch.com/Musicouching/A-Gu...Properly.364239 Its an article I put together late last month. As such its unfinished and really shoddily proof read. Any advise on improving would be appreciated.
4.
Need a bass teacher in Newcastle. Have just tried a guy who made me stay in 1st position the whole lesson, need someone more free. I play metal, classic and new.
Thats simply an effort in teaching you good technique. I'm currently being taught by Neil Harland, I can vouch for him. Ian Paterson is also a very good teacher if you can find him.
