Raptorhands

Hope someone can help with my problem. Just bought a second hand Epiphone Thunderbird. My own fault for not checking the controls properly but when both volumes are turned all the way down I still have volume through my amp. I am a beginner with very little knowledge and am not the brightest bunny in the woods. Any help I would be most grateful. Thanks
