  1. My Sire M5 arrived today. It’s a great bass, lightweight and gets all of the sounds I could possibly want out of it (how lucky am I?!). There’s surprisingly little information however on the actual controls online. In the picture there’s 3 toggle switches. The bottom one is a 2 way that switches between passive and actively and the other 2 are 3 ways which alter the sounds of the pickups. The actual humbuckers can switch between series, parallel and single coil I think. Problem is that I don’t know which position of the switches correspond to the pickup options. I know about the other knobs, I have a V7 (which I might sell now) that has the same preamp setup. Any ideas? Thanks in advance 🙂
  2. This is exactly what I’m looking for. I’m based in Edinburgh, any chance you can post? If you have any other offers then I’m willing to pay more (within reason)
  3. Hi there, I'm used to purely passive instruments up until now. I purchased a V7 recently and the batteries are dead already. I've been using it in passive mode and leave it plugged in when I'm not practicing. Does using the bass in passive mode still affect battery life, or does leaving it plugged in when the amp is off cause drain? Thanks in advance. I'm completely ignorant when it comes to electronics and like I said, it's all new to me!
  4. Yes. Seems overly resonant if that makes sense compared to the others?
  5. I treated myself to a Sire V7 (which is amazing by the way) from Thomann and picked it up from today. However when the E is played there is an echo-like sound coming from it. It does not matter if the string is fretted or not and does not decrease in intensity regardless of where I play on the neck. Anyone have any ideas what the problem is or are there any known issues with Sire V7s? I'm still using the factory strings btw and nothing has been altered on the guitar. It's as it came from the factory. Thanks in advance 🙂
  6. Thanks everyone for your input! I decided to go for the Line 6 and I'm picking it up tomorrow morning. I figure if something goes wrong with it or I'm finding it too awkward I won't end up out of pocket too much, or can sell it on. However, disaster struck this evening and I somehow talked myself into purchasing a CV 60's Precision (b stock) with the money I would have 'saved'. Most unnecessary purchase of the last few years which has left me more out of pocket than if I'd just went for the more expensive Ashdown 🙄🙄🙄😳😳😳
  7. I'm not sure what my next music venture is going to be. I am a fan of funky stuff, think Jamiroquai and current use a Ray 34
  8. I have a view to playing live gigs, plus I'm lucky enough to be able to play with some volume at home in my basement
  9. Hi guys, new poster here. I have the option of buying this https://www.gumtree.com/p/guitar-bass-amplifiers/line-6-lowdown-300-watt-bass-combo-/1366264610 which is 8years old, or https://www.andertons.co.uk/ashdown-mag-c115-300-evo-iii-bass-combo-300w-1-x-15 which is over twice the price, but is brand new and covered by a 3 year warranty. I can stretch to the Ashdown no problem. Is this a case of 'buy cheap, buy twice'? Thanks in advance for your input. I look forward to posting more and getting to know the community a bit better EDIT: I know there's a wide variety of amps available on eBay, but most of these are out of the question as they are collection only and I don't drive!
