PMT in Oxford went to the trouble of getting in a black-white-maple AND gave me a very reasonable price. Now all I need is the scratchplate - any UK suppliers? FenderLust (partially assuaged)

Hi Fellow Pluckers, I'm looking for my ideal bass: Fender Precision, late 70s, black body, black 3-ply scratchplate, maple neck. Like Bruce Foxton played sometimes. Gorgeous! I'm beginning to despair of getting a vintage one, though - they are competed for fiercely on Ebay when they come up. Should I be content with a modern (US Standard) one? If so, can anyone recommend shops around the Oxford area who might be amenable to switching the scratchplate on a Black-White-Maple? I would settle for shops with a decent supply of Fender basses as a starting point! Yours fraternally, FenderLust
