I really should have had a proper look at that.  @Marillionred - is that a standard thumb size? The reason for asking is that the Westfield is for sale, and I've stated it is smaller than a thumb. But compared to yours it is almost exactly the same size, so I need to correct the advertisement.

Yes its a standard Thumb shape for a year 2000 5 string bolt-on.

  2. I'm a mere lightweight by comparison with some most of the above lists!

New ABM owner here. EVO II 500 2 x 10 combo, dated 2006. Rescued this in a poorly state from Facebook Market place for a mere £60.

One phone call to Dave at Ashdown, and one postal delivery later, now potentiometers all round installed (two of the EQ pots had broken off at the shaft!), and a coat of car vinyl restorer product, and its as good as new!

Absolutely amazing customer service from Ashdown, who posted out ath their expense and refused to charge - so I'll make a charity donation in lieu.

I had some DTs for recording. I absolutely hated them, couldn’t wait to get rid of them. In fact every set of Beyers I’ve ever used anywhere, I’ve hated. Only ever used them for recording and/or mixing though.

DT150s, or DT100s - they do sound very different. I do love the sound of my DT150s, but totally get that they may not be everyones cup of tea.

A bit of advice I wish I could give to my younger self is to buy headphones with replaceable parts, especially the cable. Pretty much every pair of cans I've owned that has failed has been cable breakage. Similarly I've owned some Sennheiser HD580s, and is on its third cable now. Official cables are much more expensive, but last longer than the eBay knockoffs.

I've tried re-soldering the contact points, but often you have to break the damn things apart to get at it, which kind of renders the exercise pointless.

This is why I use Beyer Dynamics DT150s - many of the parts are replaceable. They are unfortunately twice the OP budget, but you really do get what you pay for, and as a bassist you'll love the extended bass response. They are not over bassy, they just go deep where lesser models start to distort.

  6. Shame the OP seeks a one-box solution. There is some really good quality pre-owned kit on fleabay.

I have two of these, and with a good amp and speakers and a decent cartridge they pull out a lot of detail from records.

I think they are appreciating in value too - I only paid about £15 for mine from a car boot sale!
