Updated photo after fretboard oiling.

Played about 45 minutes after putting on the Pryamid Golds. Whether playing with fingers, pick or palm muting with a pick is absolutely wonderful!

I am so glad I found this! One of my local shops had about 2 dozen basses in stock of which I played 8 off that kind of interested me. I narrowed my choices to 3. This, an MIJ Maui Blue Fender Precision and a Lakland Skyline 44-60 Vintage Custom in Lake Placid Blue with a maple fret board. The Precision felt great and played well but was deemed less versatile. The 44-60 felt great and played well but was too heavy. I couldn't find a thing wrong with this Jazz Bass. It only weighs 9.75 pounds. Even with the stock strings it sounds really good through my Eden WT-550 and Bag End S15X-D. Later I'm going to oil the fret board and restring it with Pryamid Gold flat wounds.

I have an update. The hum has been barely audible for more than a week. I have no idea why.

Could the handwriting on this capacitor mean anything?

After leaving it powered on for a while the hum is barely audible. Without a bass plugged in and master at maximum, bass at maximum while turning the gain past 1:00 there was a loud oscillation coming from the speaker that shook the room. Of course I immediately turned it down. Just now I set the master at 12:00, tone controls flat and the gain was at 1:00 i turned the bass up just a bit from 12:00 and the low frequency oscillation started again. Is that because of the preamp tube? Noise not hum increases as I turn up the gain. Whilst playing a bass with the gain up where the red light comes on occasionally, the bass at maximum and the master at 1 or 2 the oscillation doesn't happen.

The middle tag on the ground/lift switch does have solder on it. The DI knob and switch to ground make no difference. Interesting that when first turned on the hum was only audible when close to the speaker. Since then it has gotten louder but not nearly as loud as yesterday. There is hiss when the master volume is half way or more. I don't understand why with the master up all the way and then turning the gain above halfway caused the input limiter light to stay on and a loud low frequency blurpy sound vibrating the entire room until I quickly turned it down.

I will check those things after I get some sleep.

The dark green wire is indeed floating in mid air. No problem hearing a bass. It sounds great other than the hum.

I purchased a WT-550 which has a constant hum. Nothing connected but my Bag End S15X-D. It isn't effected by the positions of the controls. I inserted a cable into the effects loop jacks with no change. I removed the lid found one wire from the D.I. circuit board not connected. I am wondering if it is to the ground/lift switch. Because it only has 1 wire connected. Could this be the reason for the hum?

I've read it's recommended to that they have 300 watts minimum. I don't want a new amp. I'm considering Eden WT-400, WT-405. WT-550 or Trace Elliot GP7SM250 or Aguilar AG500SC. Type of music: Pop, rock (not heavy), real country, Country Rock, Blues, and Jazz.

These are my choices: 1. Ashdown ABM 300-EVO IV or ABM-600-EVO IV and ABM 115H-EVO IV-Pro NEO 2. Ashdown RM-500-EVO II and 2 RMCAB115 EVO II 3 Ampeg PF-500 and 2 PF112HLF or 2 PF115HE

Would the ABM 300 EVO IV and one ABM 115H EVO IV PRO NEO be enough volume for pop and classic rock?

I shielded both pickup cavities, the control cavity and the pick guard above the cavities with copper tape. Then connected the bridge cavity shielding to the control cavity shielding with a wire. It is now much more quiet.

Thank you. Part of me wishes I had not purchased it. I have had it for too long to return. Other than the noise I am very happy with it.

I have tried 3 different guitar leads and 2 different amps. It is definitively my bridge pickup making the loud noise (hum, buzz). The noise is not as loud when plugged into my audio interface and hearing it through my studio monitors. What can be done to fix this?

Hello everyone. What are the difference in sound between Eden WT-300, G/K 400 RB III and IV, SWR Studio 220, SM400S, Redface Bass 350 and, Trace Elliot SMC 715 and Series 6 AH200s? I am unable to try them before ordering one. I mainly play country, classic rock and folk rock.
