So, I've just taken delivery of a new bass. Ordered yesterday, delivered at 4:30pm this afternoon. It has therefore spent last night in a cold warehouse and most of today in the back of an unheated truck.
Since it's been quite cold, should I give 24 hours to acclimatise before opening the box, thus avoiding any thermal shock etc? I know some guitar manufacturers recommend this.
But this then got me thinking. A gigging band will have guitars and other gear in the back of trucks getting cold and then they arrive at the next venue which would be warmer than truck, so how do the guitars and other electronic equipment "survive" these constant changes in temperature over the course of a tour....as they won't have 24 hours to acclimatise....

Oh my giddy aunt! I had forgotten about that cover of Weak. I love me some Skunk Anansie and I’m rather partial to a bit of Rod (oo er..), but… I went and listened to it after reading your post, thinking that I hadn’t heard it. That is until the chorus came in and I realised that I had indeed heard it before. Hopefully I can forget about it again!
It is a bit of a shocker!

Foo Fighters cover of Baker Street is pretty awful I think. Rod Stewart did a few dodgy covers but by far the worst was his version of Weak originally by Skunk Anansie....terrible...

I use mine with Spector NS2 and NS4 (and a Euro 4lx when I had one) and.....they all sound fabulous no issues whatsoever. I can't recommend these headphone enough, they are really great.

I've not posted much on here for some while but I recently acquired a new pedal board and I thought I'd share it. I have a pedaltrain jnr, now redundant, which is a great little board but it was getting a bit cramped. So after looking around I came across the Nux Bumblebee Boards which, with a upper and lower deck, fitted my needs perfectly so in the best BC traditions here a pic.
It's about the same width as the jnr but not as deep but as you can see I can place the psu nicely out of the way and should I need to, I can relocate the wireless rx under there too and have room for more pedals.
I have to say the Nux is very well made and come in 3 sizes, this one is the middle size. I can throughly recommend them. In conclusion, it's smaller and for what I need I can do more with it..win-win 😊

The new pluse range are 34" scale for the 5 string I beleive and although I haven't got one, the dimension series, fan fret, seem to get very good comments.
Might be worth exploring ...perhaps....

The Wal mk1 for me

Yes, I came across these guys quite recently too. Bass Direct have a couple examples of their work and Bass Gallery has one also...all P shaped though. They have a facebook book page as well. I'd be interested in some real world feed- back too.

Sounds like a no-brainer to me...off you go and find something better and more to suited to your skill set...IMHO of course!

Mist of mine have already been mentioned: Wetton, Dewar, Squire, Turner. Greg Lake wasn't too shabby at Bass and Vox either.

FFTW in the past I had 2 fours and a 5 string. All were very comfortable to play sitting down and were great basses to play generally. A 4HH in Lava Pearl has just been put up for sale at Bass Direct if that's not to far away....

Ooh love that Spector: is it a spalted/French Violet combo finish?
Almost! It's called Shoreline Ultaviolet.

I was there. Must have been the 11th because I remember Chas and Dave, the New Barbarians, Keef's band. I also recall Todd Rungdron nearly falling of a speaker stack he'd climbed and some bloke brought his newly married wife complete in a wedding dress to the show! Of course I loved seeing Led Zeppelin, eating Watermelon's always remind me.of that weekend. Happy Days.

Congratulations, I'd been looking at this one ever since it arrived. It looks even better in your pics than those at Bass Direct. Slightly envious and not a little jealous....I'm a recent Spector convert myself and can't see myself playing any other bass now. Enjoy!

The Wilkinson pickups are absolutely not original like the Zippo lighter-thumb rest or whatever it is.
The nut looks a bit odd too....

I like the way you've made sure the Spector matches the colour scheme of that piece of rope on the keyboard stand!
Stunning looking bass... A custom order?
Didn't spot that😅
It's a custom order of sorts. Mark at Bass Direct spec'd and ordered it. I just fell in love with it when I saw it and had to have it.
