http://myweb.tiscali.co.uk/fyfeholt/aria.htm
thanks for that, same size as a lot of 5 string soapbars apparently so looks like plenty to choose from -
hi
i have two MEC pickups from a rockbass streamer
i brought the bass from ebay in october, took it to bits, stripped it, primed it and was going to paint it a cool greeny blue colour and give it to my girl friend who played bass but had to get rid of hers for money reasons.
anyway, single now so i have plans to fill the pickup holes and replace with a singel p bass pup or somthing - love the neck - not a fan of big ballsy warwick tone so im gonna try somthign a little different.
any offers on the pickups? they are identicle so i will sell them individualy if needed. or would swap for other pickups.
would sell with the springs that go underneath. possibly with pots and knobs too....
cheers
karl
what are the sizes, many thanks -
O.k here is the long drawn out question, just recently aquired a batwing sb700,was painted blue! after market paintjob,so stripped it back to perfect wood finish, perfect ultra low action but here is the question, the sound is a bit woolly standard pick up 100mm x 40mm,4 screw fixing through the pick up one vol one tone and some in out phase pup switch, want to upgrade would like a growl with some great highs, could go active anyone any suggestions or upgraded their own on this size of pup,any suggestions much appreciated

I have played a number of fenders old,new whichever, and yes agree that they have 'that' sound and have not changed for yonks, bar pick ups then only to become more modern in sound.but as with most things in life we have a little thing called progress.I know some people will have all the old school set up to get that sound, but as amps and speaker technology changes so do bass guitars, and its all a matter of what a player likes, there is no right and wrong just different tastes. The world would be a very bland and boring place if we all like the same things, personally I prefer a 'modern' sound but a classic fender sound I will use with certain recordings or playing with certain bands, its whats required or what sounds and feels right(or wrong).I think for the money there are better sounding instruments and better looking but again thats my taste. Do we all still use sm58s for main vocals, god forbid no,but thats another story

Hi everyone new to the forum probably in the wrong place, but here goes, got a hartke vx3500(thorn in my side)First one lasted about 2 months didnt light up,checked fuses, know the guys at the shop, they sent it away gimme a new one,9 months later sounds like all speakers blown, sent away loaned me the shop demo one this week shop demo hartke packed up,so now back to my old trusty trace gear got the little stack 1 15 cab and a 2 10 with horn had em for about 15 years still sound mint but sold the trace head and got a late 80s swr 400 valve pre amp model but doesnt sound as good as the trace 130 head albeit louder just not sweet if you know what i mean,I play warwick thumb, wasburn semi a couple of hohner Bs and a hofner 185 do all sorts of covers etc hears the question advice on do i ditch all the gear buy full new rig or keep the cabs n just get a new head,if so for around 300 quid there's a s**t load of amps like the trace tone anyone tried the new marshall 450,hi watt 300,behringer 5500(ampeg lookalike) open to any suggestions advice etc sorry for the long post,ps got to play loud enough to get over both guitarists, both with marshall 4 by 12s and 100 watt valve heads I think you all know what I mean in volume terms, and I do sometimes use an O/D pedal

Well it arrived this morning from Mr Bilodeau,Canada this morning and I cant put it down, lots of exotic woods and an action that would put a gnat at a limbo competition down, sounds a cross between a MM and warwick thumb growl and hi fi its just unbelievable check his website, and its the only one in the world
