1. i have an sr1000 and i love it and yes is a pj thing is that ibanez ment to be for heavy moding ...

mine has SD pickups the old one with eq swithces on the pickup!!!!
and emg 2 band active preamp
    shaller keys

plays like a dream and is the lightest bass ever .....

unfortunatelly i play 5 strings more often these days :)

  2.
For a bass to be great for me, its all about playability, sound, versatility, projection, materials and cosmetic details. My main bass is worth around £1300, and with all things considered, for me it blows any fender ive played out of the water. The better construction, wood choices, electronics, playability and cosmetic touches make it worth the money in my eyes.
+1 is a combination of things and i am happy every day with it every day

  3.
The sound is probably a combination of the (Kent Armstrong designed?) pickups, wiring choices (parallel humbuckers) and the preamp. On a quick look..that looks like an expensive box for what it does (preamp and headphone amp) and there are many other options for less money.
yes excactly what i was thinking :) thnx

  4.
This is the same preamp that is in my bass, it's very good, quiet, adjustable via dip switches and can go from very subtle to very aggressive.
i know what you mean i played your bass my teacher now have it i bought it for him but my point is

i have fbass ok and i use it to passive, will i get that distinct same sound of the ken smith that what i like ? i know of course that i have to try it in order to get it but here in greece is not available :)

what do you think would you get that smith agressive tone ? is it worth it or is just a preamp ?

have any of you tried it ? what you think ?

  6.
thanks Lee - I thought so too :)

  8.
Another Stingray D & G string complaint. I had that too and pushed the pole pieces in for these 2 strings and then raised the pup up that end and down for the other. Worked a treat. Search the fourm for this and other remedies.
you have to solder it ?

  9. buy an f bass :)

jocking love stingray mine has the same problem the one i have with piezo magnet

so listen to my problem is very easy to understand the difference of the quite G because of piezo

    in piezo mode is alive
and in pickup mode is dead

i am sure i ll get a nordstand pickup soon i cant help it
i play now the g stronger in my musicman
and thats bad for my Fbass(which is the best bass ever had) and i spoil my dynamics
is no good at all so i think i ll spend 100 quid to get a pickup :)

  10.
It's tempting to let you play anyway with an 86' But will that derail the threads authenticity? I would like to see it anyway as a Ray fan in general is it in the EB porn thread?
you must know that the parts are definately pre ernie ball because is dated 86 but only logo is ernieball is the transition era i think

i am sure this is like an 82-84 period bass and is the best ray ever had

i think is better from some pre ones i played (actually i played one fretted)

    this my beauty http://basschat.co.uk/index.php?showtopic=70406&hl=

  11. for sale section= the forbiten fruit for sure is the most sinful place to go

we all know we need one bass and only to hold the groove and thats it

but who is doing it none :) starts like this

i need a good 4 string then a good 5 string lets have a fretless lets have a ken smith sound then a stingray a jazz and go on

but the thing is that we all get them and dont play them lack of time is an modern issue that affect everyone

CAN YOU FIND ME SOME FREE TIME PLEASE THATS MY PROBLEM :)
