I recently purchased a Hercules stand. One common complaint is that you can't leave the endpin extended, unless you have yours extended less than around 22cm. This was a deal breaker for me as I didn't want to have to lay the bass down and push in the endpin every time I went on break, and reverse the procedure again before playing. To fix this problem, I modified mine by adding legs that I 3D printed and replacing the support arms with square aluminum tubing, which is much more rigid. The arms are also longer and as a result the stand is super stable. You could make similar legs out of furniture grade plywood. I also discovered that I can place my small amp on the stand behind the uprights which is really convenient and space saving on the gig. Sorry the image got rotated, I don't know how to fix that. I also shortened the front stubs that prevent the base from sliding forward, by about 50mm. It was too difficult getting the bass in and out otherwise.
