I'm very much a believer that in terms of tone, pickup position is the number 1 factor, followed by pickup type and electronics.

Everything else, including body and neck materials has far less impact on overall tone than those three.

I strongly suspect that you could mold a P bass out of concrete and as long as it had the split P pickup in the correct place and the usual passive tone and volume it would still sound very much like a P Bass.

Might weigh less than plywood too.

I would add scale length to that list.

  2. Drilling a tube around the screw is the best bet. It's too small for anything else to get purchase on it. If you drill anticlockwise you might be lucky enough for the tube to grab the screw and wind it out

  3. Finally managed to make myself something!

I wasn't sure whether to post this in build diarys or gear porn but I've plumped for here.

Anyway, it's 32"scale which I'm finding really comfortable to play. Although with drop tuning things get a bit flabby so I'm going to try a thicker guage. I was also worried the LP style might suffer from neck dive but it's not an issue at all.

It has a flamed Ash top and walnut neck and I'm very pleased with it.

Saw Crow at the Shepherds Bush Empire , London , a treat from my partner back then for my 40th. Utterly brilliant. Played both guitar and les paul style bass. Clapton - On - Sea came on in the 2nd half

She plays a guild bass quite often

  5. New order.
Fair enough they have written 3 good tunes and inadvertently broke new ground when they started. But the rest is regurgitated tripe with flat vocals, terrible lyrics and Hookey playing the same stupid bass line on everything. Dreadful live too

  6. We do figure it out and out of the Black in my band.
Royal blood have basically taken the bass signal, split it and made one sound like a guitar. We just have one guitarist and he just does the bits that sound like guitar.
I'm not sure what I'd do with another guitar other than playing the same. Play a harmony or different octave maybe?

  7. +1 on the ear plug tip. I hated it to begin with but soon got used to the sound.
I'm so glad I always did some backing vox otherwise I'd be deaf in both ears now!
After a while muscle memory will also help and the feel of the notes your aiming for will become familiar

  8. I suspect it to be a weird loop. That's what it sounds like to me.
I just have the us122 going into the pc via usb and all inputs and outputs connected to the us122.
I don't know if/ how I can disable the internal soundcard?

  9. Hi all,
I've got an issue with the sound on my computer. Now and again it sounds like it is feeding back on itself and I have to wait a few minutes for a delayed noise to pass
And if I'm recording say a guitar track, what is recorded changes from the guitar to recording internal sounds such as the drums, during these periods.
I wonder if its an issue between the computers soundcard and my audio interface (tascam us122)? As far as I can see I've selected the tascam for everything sound related on my pc.
Any ideas would be gratefully received. Thanks.

P.s I'm using cubase le4 to record and windows 10. Also I didn't have this problem with my previous pc
