  1. I play bass in Syncolima, we are a Notts / Derby based original stoner / grunge band.

Formed at the end of lockdown whenever that was, just trying to ramp things up a bit now!

Approx. 30 odd gigs a year,  Our 3rd album coming out in September, followed by a modest tour in November.

Played some cool stuff in the past few years, more to come! we're currently signed up with a booking agent / manager.

You make a very good point here. It depends how many of your gigs are DI'd to front of house, or "backline only". Mine are probably about 75% backline only at the moment, but if the band keeps up at current momentum, that will change. I do run wireless, so I get the opportunity to walk out front and check what FOH sounds like, and it's been OK so far with the BF Three10. When I run the vintage GK RB's I use an Orchid DI in front of them and run that to FOH, and when I run the modern GK Legacy 800 I use the built in DI. The bass I use does help, vintage P with flats, so I hope it's never going to veer to far away from what I'm looking for.

Nice one, get the sound you want out the cab it's gonna be 98 percent there going out your Di, any other cab your gonna be compensating for that baked in tone, sound great in stage, but Di feed is not gonna be what you sound like. Persevere, as it took me some doing and I have super compacts with tweeters, although I have a medium ISH pedal board and I love my sansamp!

  3. I went from BF 10's to 12's

It does take some tweaking! but you will get there and be better for it.

As the super compacts are "honest" with no baked in tone, you really just need to give it one, the great thing then is what comes out your DI into the PA will be more or less the same as the cab.

Keep going, if its brand new the speaker does need running in a bit too!

  5. For Sale

    Origin Effects DCX bass

Virtually new, no marks, does have velcro on its arse

Comes with OG box, Postage to mainland UK included.

Quite the pedal tbh, huge responsive EQ, Gain until Tuesday or not, like plugging into a vintage desk.

Usual blurb from the web below.

    From Subtle To Saturated, A Studio-Grade Tone-Enhancer

The greatest pieces of studio gear are the ones that add something special to the sound of an instrument, going beyond the job they were designed for and enhancing anything that passes through the circuit.

One such piece is the UA 610 preamp, which was the inspiration for the DCX Bass. This retro console preamp is famous for adding vintage, analogue colour to a signal, as well as precise control of level and EQ.

Push the level harder and you get rich, harmonic saturation of the kind that makes analogue hardware a must-have in any present-day studio.

The DCX Bass reimagines this classic preamp as a tone-shaper and drive pedal for bass guitar, with a wide range of clean and overdrive tones, EQ frequencies optimised for the instrument,

and our Adaptive Circuitry providing a treble response that reacts to playing dynamics. It’s a signal-boosting, tone-enhancing pedal straight from the studio!

Has been really interesting reading through this thread, glad I found it. I'm at the point of pulling the trigger on one to be honest. I have a couple of questions that I'm hoping you folks can help me with as I'm still not sure of the answers despite having read through the Ashdown website about a dozen times.

    1. Is the ABM Evo V 750 rack mountable or is there a bag available to store/carry it in? My preference would be to have it in a rack case if possible but I'll go with a bag if it's not rack mountable.

    2. I've never experienced the notched controls that a couple of you mentioned in the earlier posts but they sound awful to me. Does the amp still come stock with the notched controls or are they doing normal smooth controls now that we are a couple of years into the amps being available?

Thanks for any help you can give

It could be rackmountable, I guess Ashdown would have to make a lid and ears for it though, its mounted in a wooden sleeve like most of their heads.

I got a cover for it from https://www.hotcovers.co.uk/ its solid and keeps it safe.

The notched controls aren't too bad, you could probably ask Ashdown to change them if you're buying direct
