  1. Nice one Northy. A fellow Drummist who has moved over to the dark side? Brilliant;-) I am in Halifax, so we are almost neighbours. Sweet. I ordered my Bongo back in early December with a 4/5 month delivery, so it won't be long now. I run a small 20w Roland Cube practice amp at the mo, but I am going to get something that I can gig or take to rehearsals once I am good enough to join a band.
  2. Blimey, Such wide and differing opinions. Love it. Thanks loads guys. Looks like I have some serious food for thought.
  3. Hey folks. New member here. I am a relatively new bassist, but I have played the drums for nearly 30 years, so I am well versed in the need for a solid rhythm section. In my time as a drummer I have played with some great bass players. I have always hankered to learn how to play it, so a few years ago I bought a Yamaha 5 string and a small Roland Cube combo to practice with. Well things have moved up a level. A very good friend of mine who I re-connected with a couple of years ago and who is a virtuoso bassist is giving me lessons. I am as keen as can be to the point where just before Christmas I ordered a Music Man Bongo with twin humbuckers. I just cannot wait as it is going to be my dream bass. The waiting time for it was 4-5 months and that time is nearly up. I am therefore looking for a backline to put the new bass through. When I ordered the bass the Music Man dealer who I am getting it from managed to get a Bongo sent so I could try it out before committing myself as it is a very expensive guitar. Well it played like a dream and I put it through a Hartke rig in the shop consisting of a 1x15 Hydrive cab and a LH500 amp. It sounded fab and that is what I am leaning towards, but should I get 500w Ampeg amp to go with the 1x15 Hydrive??? That is my quandry. I am pretty much sold on the cab, but I don't know about the amp. My bass playing buddy has just upgraded his entire rig to 4 4x10 Hydrive cabs and he initially got a couple of 1000w Harke amps, but on getting them and setting the who rig up he found out that both amps were faulty and the customer service he got from Korg UK (Hartke's UK distributor) was lousy, so he decided to vote with his feet and go elsewhere for his amps. He kept the cabs as they are excellent. Well to cut a long story short he made the decision to but a couple of 1000w Ampeg amps (double the price of the Harke's), but he was willing to do it, so perhaps I should go down the same route? Get the Hartke 1x15 cab and go for an Ampeg 500w amp? I would be very interested to hear other peoples opinions as to what to do? Korg UK are sh*te, and I don't want to be in the same position as my bud.
