As a descendent from a family insurance brokers business, Id say don't do it. The bottom has dropped out the market with the big boys concentrating on putting all the small fish out of business. As a niche market, musicians can't pay to put petrol in their cars to get to gigs, so why are they going to bother with insurance?

As a pretty busy musician, with nice gear, I have insurance, but most of the musicians I work with don't. I'm sure if someone made it easy for them they would get it, but it's too complicated for most people to bother. I do wonder how many people are gigging enough to merit getting insurance though?
Filled out the survey though.

Thanks for the comments guys. Wanted to do something to combine my passions for music and insurance (sad, I know). Not overly interested in becoming rich from the business, just comfortable, and ideally in the not-too-distant future, be able to invest back into the industry and support the 'grass-roots' (to coin a football-y term) part of the industry. One of the reasons I want to have the insurers available to offer the more standardised insurance is so I can help others not affiliated with music at all, but the music/entertainment industry will be the main focus of the business. Still early days yet so still refining/defining the idea and services we'll offer.
