  1. Any good? I fancy a new toy but don't wanna break the bank and always liked the look of SG basses. It won't be my main bass, far from it but I'm thinking it will add some variety to my collection which is dominated by Precision basses. Seen them going for around £150, is it worth it or will I be disappointed? Cheers

  2. I was asking the same questions and then I managed to get a practically brand new MIM P (2014 version I believe) for £350, much less than I could see the Ramones bass for sale anywhere. I swapped the original white scratchplate for a black one and it looks exactly like the Ramones one. Plays like a dream and sounds great, I still haven't played the Dee Dee bass but don't see how it could be any better. Slightly different logo on headstock and Ramones neck plate seem to be the only differences.
I'll never knock Mexican basses, I have a Mark Hoppus Signature and its the best bass I've ever played. And I've owned A LOT of basses. Never had a USA P though....

  3. I've got one mate, and I love it! My one has a Fender custom vintage 59 pickup from the Mike Dirnt signature (I play in a Green Day tribute band) I wanted to upgrade to Fender as that's what Dirnt plays but don't wanna break the bank. Don't want to part with the MF though! In fact I was thinking about trading my white one for a black one.
You're so right tho, awesome bass

  4. Hi guys I've been reading up on the Dee Dee Ramone Sigature Precision and it seems as though it's not much different to a Mexican Standard Precision. Are you really paying £100's extra for the signature and fancy neck plate or is there more to it than that? If anyone's owned both and can do a straight comparison that would be great.
Are other precisions in that price range that are much better? USA P a bit too expensive for me at the moment.
    Cheers
    Paul

  5. Would you consider swapping for 2 basses? One is the Fender Mark Hoppus Signature in Surf Green and the other is Squier Matt Freeman Signature in white with upgraded pickup (custom vintage '59 from the Mike Dirnt Signature) both in mint condition. Hoppus bass retails at £670 and Freeman at £390, I'm sure I could raise the £675 you're looking for if I sold them both but can't be doing with the hassle! I'm down the road from you in Fareham
