1.
Somehow that suggests a lot of thumbing through and good measure of love
yes that's true!
 2.
Hello. The strings on my 1983 Cutlass I are perfectly centred over the fretboard, and mine also has a 4-bolt neck and non through-body strings. However, I did buy mine second-hand (back in 1991) so the previous owner may have fiddled with the saddles beforehand.
Ah, maybe ...it plays fine so I guess it's just the way it is...interesting though as the only other one I've seen was the same. Thanks for replying!
 3.
Ooh.. those two look good together! :-) We have a mutual friend in Gifford Rolfe; he's spoken very highly of you, Lou!
Hey thanks Hugh - we're really looking forward to seeing Gifford next week!
 4. I have a lovely old black fretless Stingray bass which I bought in Camden Town around 1982 and a black Cutless I which our manager got new for me from Manny's NYC in the mid 80s. They have been my favourite basses ever since and I still regularly gig and record with them. I used to have a natural fretted Stingray too, but sold it when I got the Cutlass (together with the original moulded Music Man case which I got with the fretless, I so much regret selling the case now!). Anyway, I still have the original Music man catalogue from 1980. Very tatty and stuck together with sellotape. Here are a few photos...
 5.
Great to see you here, Lou
Hey Rob, how's your Stingray?
 6.
Great to hear from you on here, Lou. I was a big fan of The Red Guitars and remember being particularly inspired by the basslines on Steeltown and Be With Me (I still often warm up with that one!) when I was starting out.
Hey thanks Paul, that's cool!
 7. Aha, just been directed to this post as someone has clicked onto our website from it. Yes, I have a Cutlass I serial no B022503. I got it new. Our manager got it from Manny's, probably 1984 ish. Together with the fretless Stingray it's still my main bass today. It's newer than the one at the top of the page as it has 4 bolt plate and doesn't have thru body strings. I remember FGTH having one too, a hired one I believe. I also have a fretless Stingray, an early one. Serial no B020639. I bought it in Camden Town in around 1982 for about £200. The guy in the shop said it was Boz Burrells. It sounds amazing, I love it and still gig with it. It's got a three bolt plate and through body stings. Black with ebony fingerboard. I have a hip shot on the bottom string. I'll look for some photos....there are some knocking round on our website http://loudhailer.net/ And this back in the day https://www.youtube....h?v=PN_Pff1yza8 Lou Duffy-Howard
