1. Yay, managed to finish in time :)

Had a bit of trouble finding inspiration in the picture but decided to just put some words to it and work from there.
"The upside becomes the downside. Turn the world around"
As a result the track is a bit too serious for the picture... but still, I´m quite pleased with it!
All instruments played by yours truly, multitracked in cubase

2. Yes!
Between the ages of 10-16 I listened pretty much exclusively to hip hop, then I started getting into turntablism, after that sampling which led to the discovery of soul, jazz, funk and other great stuff. When I bought my first bass at the age of 19 my main objective was to use it for beat making.

3. Started out with an idea of doing a cover of Toxic in 7/8 time and this is where I ended up.

A multitude of percussion tracks
Drumkit (snare, ride, hihat, kick, each recorded seperately as I record in my apartment, i.e. no space for a mounted kit)
Horns (two alto saxes, one flute and one baritone sax)
Fretless bass
Keyboard drone from my trusty old casio
Vocals, I wanted it to sound like the ensemble was chanting the vocals which is a bit tricky when youre the only one in your ensemble. I sang the lyrics in three different voices and I managed to convince my better half to record a track aswell... 'tis what it is :)

Any more progress with this, Bastav?

Well, not much. Ive been moving house and this coupled with the fact i dont have a dedicated workspace has led to a forced building hiatus. Also i started another project, so ive now got three builds to distract me from more important things :)

5. Here's the fingerboard. It's now partially slotted with veneer strips glued in with some sawdust. I managed to slighly mess up a few of the slots due to lack of proper preparations/slotting jig. This being fretless, I'm not really worried about function so much as form. We'll see what it looks like with the binding in place... If Im not happy with it I'll start over on a new board.
