The Empathy was top of the range at its time, so above the Series 2 but shares some commonality with the current Series 2 model, i.e. the shallow through neck.

I think Status made them up until 1999/2000 so it could be a little younger which might explain the lovely condition of this one.

String spacing should be 18mm (or 18.5mm) at the bridge, I’m not sure which.

They don’t come up for sale too often and if I had the opportunity I’d snatch it up!

Will definately check the bass out. Especially the string spacing and will decide if buying it.

    One more thing.
Do these things have truss rod?

If not - Is it a big deal and is the neck stable?

(have owned a Zon and Schack without truss rod and was actually fine, although the Zon did curve, depending on the string gauge you put on)

Here’s my Series 2 for comparison. It’s a 30th Anniversary model so has some fancy inlays on the back which were a feature of the very first Strata basses that Rob Green made but otherwise the body construction is the same as the original Series 2 and very similar to the Empathy.

You can clearly see the ‘cricket bat’ through neck and the more ‘simple’ 4 knob control layout (volume, pan, bass cut/boost, treble cut/boost) per the original Series 2’s active electronics.

Pick ups on the later Empathy basses were different too I think. The ones on this Empathy look more like Status’ later Hyperactive pick ups to me.

I think (but don’t quote me!) that the Empathy has a variable mid sweep like the current Series 2 and Series 3 models, hence the 3 tone knobs.

Thanks for your thoughts, man! I really appreciate it!

Wow, just a beautiful and very special bass you have here! Funny enough, (what a conincidence!!!), just a one like yours was sold at the auction on the Swiss website a week or two ago for cca 5500 EUR (Yes, that's right😳!). Quite a price, right? But it certainly proves, a good Status example knows no limits...Normally i see Status basses up to cca 2500 Eur range.

Just wanted to share that with you.

And to prove - below a pic of it.

Amazing boutique looks if this particular example...

    guys...

shipping an item at this pricetag from germany to the US now requiers customs paper work that i have to admit - i dont understand anymore and cannot provide.

i mainly ship with DHL from germany and if the parcel is longer than 120cm (which it will be) its called "sperrgut" - which when shipped outside germany is very expensive.

if anyone knows better alternatives to DHL i will greatly appreciate.

I never paid more as 50 Eur sending a Bass (as a sperrgut) with German DHL to any EU country.

    I don't consider that a lot...

Is this the one which has the moved (modded) Input jack from the side to the front top of the bass? - Nope. No side input jack history. Sounds awfully good though.

    Thanks for the answer.

    No doubt - great bass.

    Good luck  with the sale!

  5. Bought a Trb6p from Russ.

He is one of more active members here on basschat, so i knew before he is probably a very trustworthy seller. I was right.

He is very friendly, answers mails in a blink of an eye... Packaging was top notch, no problems with shipping.

Would deal with Russ anytime again. Thanks!

    Cheers

So......those purveyors of many Yammy’s often side by side do they feel/hear/see a noticeable difference for those that have had the IRA treatment?

Interested in that myself too... Anyone tried an IRA bass 1 on 1against a non treated one?

    Thanks for the answers guys🙏

  7. Just done a bass swap with Latif - the trade was quick , efficient and hassle free, and communication was top notch throughout.

Buyers & sellers can deal with confidence as Latif is again... A great guy! 150% recommended.

Hmm, the guy doesn't really know what he's talking about if you ask me.

Thanks for your answer😊 Well, i think i will give you right on this one...

By the band i play with - they use Behringer X32 digital rack mixer as far i know.

But i am searching for a way to manipulate the sound on "my side of a chain" - so that i just can send it to mix

and eq the "in ear" side only for me. Could that be done with a PREAMP/DI box and wire the bass out of that?

I was thinking of that, but... There are only 2 "outs" there. I would actually need 3 then - one for MIXER, one for bass hear and one

for In ear. Or is this an unlogical thinking?

As far in ears go - i won't sadly be able to test ones, but i normally like headphone "bass playing" - i play only on headphones at home

through amp sim on my DAW. So i was thinking also about getting an Ultimate Ears UE 6 Pro (which they claim, should be for a bass players).
