Input
The 1/4" unbalanced input can accept instrument level signals from various sources, such as electric bass, guitar, acoustic guitar, and keys/synth. If you wish to use a line level signal, it is recommended to use a higher supply voltage (up to 24V) to provide adequate headroom. The input impedance is 1MΩ.
Low Noise Gain
The Gain knob provides clean, low noise gain ranging from unity to +20 dB.
Equalizer (EQ)
The EQ is a boost/cut type, providing +/-15 dB of range, and is flat with the knobs at noon.
The Bass is a shelving type EQ, affecting frequencies below 80Hz
The Treble is a shelving type EQ, affecting frequencies above 3kHz
The Middle EQ affects the frequency set by the associated Middle Freq knob
The Low Pass and High Pass filters are 12dB per octave active filters with a smooth response in the pass band
Outputs
The 1/4" output is an unbalanced instrument level output, capable of driving other pedals, amplifiers, or preamps
The balanced out can drive long XLR cable lengths, and includes a ground lift switch. The Messenger will safely block phantom power applied from a mixing board. The balanced out volume can be set with the DI Level knob.
The Volume and EQ settings affect both the unbalanced and balanced out signals.
Foot Switch
The foot switch can be set to either bypass the EQ, or mute your signal via the toggle switch. The foot switch function affects both the line out and balanced out signals. The EQ bypass does not affect the Gain, DI Level, or HPF settings.
One use of the EQ Bypass is to compare your affected and unaffected signals, helping you to determine if you have made the right EQ changes. Another use is to switch in an EQ setting for a part of a song, such as for a solo, or a song that requires a different tone than normal.
Power Requirement
The Messenger Jr requires a DC supply (not included). The supply must be at least 9V, but no greater than 24V. The Messenger Jr draws 25mA. The connector must be a boss style, 2.1mm barrel, center negative polarity. A 24 volt power supply may be purchased separately.
The Messenger Jr does not accept a battery. Phantom power will not power the pedal, but no damage will occur if applied.

Had one yrs ago but it was nicked. I just remember it sounding warm and fat. It immediately made my bass sound like it had a touch of old school charm/mojo. I’m all sorted with a comp on my board but keep peeking at these effectrode units! I’ve only trade fodder anyway. Plus having bought from @Embra before (we literally lived on the same road a few years back) he always has quality gear!

For sale, mint condition Fodera Emperor 4-string 33” scale.

This was supposed to be my dream bass but I’m not 100% in love with it and it’s an expensive bass to keep when you’re not fully committed. I ordered it in December 2021 and it arrived in April this year. I was determined to keep it but alas, we’re not to be…. No fault of Fodera’s, they surpassed my expectations (particularly with the weight), it sounds superb and plays like you’d expect from a Fodera. I’ll doubt I’ll ever own a better bass.
It’s in 'as new' condition; I've barely played it. I’ll post it with UPS fully insured to a UK address; contact me for delivery overseas. If you're near to Edinburgh, you're welcome to try her out (Demeter amp & Barefaced cab).

I love it with a dirty boost running before it (Spaceman Saturn VI) and a compressor in the loop (the Cali76 was the perfect combo here but honourably mentions for the Empress Compressor and the PC-2A below if you really want a pillowy sound). I powered it with a Cioks with two outputs doubled to provide the requisite current (650mA). It comes with an unused power supply too though. It takes your unbalanced guitar input and feeds it through a high-voltage tube preamp then out through a high-end DI transformer and out into a balanced XLR output. You also have a 1/4″ output up top, and you can switch between dry passthrough from the input or affected output from the preamp for the 1/4″ output.

I bought this last year as a complement to a fretless version of the same bass (which I’m keeping). My aim was to go for a custom, lightweight medium-scale sort of(ish) Stingray. It originally came with a Delano MC 4 HE/S pickup but a local guitar tech swapped it with the MC 4 AL in the fretless. It’s superb condition apart from two small scuff marks underneath (see photo). Comes with an unworn t-shirt too!
Specifications:
- Weight: 6.7lbs (3.0kg). 22 Frets, Solidbody (Alder with Eye poplar top), natural matt finish.
- Bolt on neck, 3-piece hard rock maple neck with ‘modern C’ profile. 40mm (1.57 inches) nut width. East Indian rosewood fingerboard with side dots and 14” fingerboard radius. I ordered it with the Joker headstock which I much prefer to the standard skinny Cazpar headstock.

This one has drill wholes for a Cioks DC5 but also the 3M Low Profile Dual Lock velcro). The bag is in great shape and it's a very solid board (more rigid than the Rockboard). The I spent ages cutting out the velcro to fit this board.... 🤪 Dimensions shown in a few photos. I'll also post via EVRI.

This is has been my favourite 34" bass since I bought it in early 2019. It has a lovely neck and a low action and sounds amazing with TI flats (which I’ve kept on). It’s a Japanese Metro bass. Build quality is superb and one of the nicest I’ve owned. There is one indentation underneath the body, two small blemishes on the back, two cosmetic cracks near the neck pocket - all shown clearly in the photos with a penny for size comparison. Postage to the UK is included with UPS (insured); it will be packed and protected in a cardboard shipping box.
