What happened to my reply yesterday to this topic??

There seems little point in taking the time to reply to threads like this to offer advice in good faith only for them to disappear. This place is really going downhill.

The thread got taken down and then re-enstated!! maye it got lost in the ether

    Id say £1500.

Because that's how much the one that just went up on BassDirect is you're referring to ;)

true!! but that don't help!! is that a good price I wonder.... i already own a korean warwick and its amazing.... not sure of the fretless tone on demos there aren;t that many, i like lots of treble, and harmonics... not a really dense sound maybe this will be too woody!! ?

The Chunk 00 Funk Mk II (or Octavius Squeezer which shares the same filter circuit) is the squelchiest, gloopiest filter I've ever tried. I own both and they're great pedals. The Iron Ether Xerograph Deluxe is also meant to sound quite similar. Both of these filters can get very extreme sounding. The Mu Fx Tru Tron 3x is also a lot more powerful than the Q Trons or original Mu-Tron, is fat sounding and can get very wet and the down-sweep is really nice and chewy.

  6. From Bill Brufords Facebook Page:

Really saddened to hear of the death of my old Yes band-mate, Chris Squire. I shall remember him fondly; one of the twin rocks upon which Yes was founded and, I believe, the only member to have been present and correct, Rickenbacker at the ready, on every tour. He and I had a working relationship built around our differences. Despite, or perhaps because of, the old chestnut about creative tension, it seemed, strangely, to work.

He had an approach that contrasted sharply with the somewhat monotonic, immobile bass parts of today. His lines were important; counter-melodic structural components that you were as likely to go away humming as the top line melody; little stand-alone works of art in themselves. Whenever I think of him, which is not infrequently, I think of the over-driven fuzz of the sinewy staccato hits in Close to the Edge (6’04” and on) or a couple of minutes later where he sounds like a tuba (8’.00”). While he may have taken a while to arrive at the finished article, it was always worth waiting for. And then he would sing a different part on top.

An individualist in an age when it was possible to establish individuality, Chris fearlessly staked out a whole protectorate of bass playing in which he was lord and master. I suspect he knew not only that he gave millions of people pleasure with his music, but also that he was fortunate to be able to do so. I offer sincere condolences to his family.

    Adios, partner. Bill.

  7. Who 'owned' Glastonbury this year? Certainly not Kayne, who just tries too hard and whose ego is bigger than his actual talent.

My standout performances from Glasto were in no particular order: Marcos Valle, Motorhead, The Who, George Clinton and gang, Burt Bacharach and Lionel Ritche!!

all oldies.... of the newbies I liked Mick Ronsons white boy funk and Everything Everything, the rest was just average including a shouty Paul Weller

Hipshot/Graphtech bridges with built-in piezo saddles are very good indeed (have one on my ACG fretless)

I'm thinking of getting a fretless from ACG , can you tell me how much yours was please ( provate message if too expensive!! )

I think I need a piezo after hearing percy jones with his ibanez with one!!

  9. If they did a fretless version I would buy it instantly. Don;t mind the body shape, sounds good, put an ebony fingerboard on it.

does anybody know how much it would cost to strip the fretboard and replae it with ebony? probably not worth the effort!!

  10. I've been told that ebony is 'too hard' and has more high frequencies than rosewood which is true but I want high frequencies, I want lots of harmonics!! I want twang!! I guess ebony is best bet for me....

I've had a Wal so I know how good they are, just cannot lay out 3 big ones... so compromise, decent active... decent neck

What about headless? I hear theres no dead spots this sounds good for fretless surely?
