  1. I've been lucky enough to see Bombskare live a couple of times and they were incredible. The whole audience danced and jumped around all through the show.Midge was right, light touchpaper and stand well back. Female bass player was good, very solid, didn't catch sight of her gear but tone was spot on.

  2. Looks like a great bass, American vintage reissues are fantastic instruments. I've played a 62 reissue and an original 62 and its remarkable just how close they get. Never played a custom shop and not sure what they add?

  3. Gretsch 6129 '57 Silverjet is the one I have experience of, not a budget one I'm afraid but a true revelation, a sound of its own, closer to a hollow body and so resonant. Fantastic quality, lightweight, unique tone and a world away from solid body Gibson and Fender guitars......closer to £2k new though.

  4. Early 60's tort is unique, unmistakable and very cool. The new owner could easily patch the guard with repro material if they didn't like those disks. As for the instrument itself, the real deal, once played you can never go back......and this one's a great deal for a player who wants to hear '63 Precision bass tone.

  5. If it was an all original refin it would be worth half of what an original finished instrument is worth. I would consider this to be in the same ballpark ie half the value of an unmolested one......but something is only worth what someone will pay for it and a dealer will often put something like this up with a reasonably hight starting price. I think it's too much given the 'excuses' but interesting none the less if you can get the price down.

  6. Ah ...music shops with interesting second hand gear, I remember those. Time for a come back in my opinion, much preferable to Internet/ postage scenario and nobody's mucky boots on your carpets coming round to check it out at home.
Limited numbers of local buyers and possibly longer to sell though.

Ampeg B100R for semi-acoustic or restaurant type gigs, even without PA

B100R's are fantastic, even with a drummer in a small bar
Solid good quality almost legendary amps.

  8. I wonder if anyone has sold on ebay to a Chinese buyer?
I've had a best offer from a guy who first contacted me a month ago saying he's been looking for a model like mine and would I ship to China. I said no at the time but now he's back. What do you think, genuine. ?

  9. Fantastic instruments and I really like them but you have to recognise that a 51 style p bass and indeed the late 60s Tele single coil basses have a fairly unfocused looser almost raggedy sound. Wonderful contrast to later split coil P bass which is more focused, tighter and almost compressed in comparison. Another thought would be changing strings might help

  10. There's always such a focus on cost with Mesa gear.
You almost have to put that aside and live with the amp/cab to really find out. What I can say is they are really well made in that 10% better quality 50% more cost way.
My M3 Carbine is actually very uncommon, probably due to perceived high cost but sounds great once you spend time playing it know how to use it.I've never tried a Walkabout but it really appeals.
