My '88 Alembic Distillate. Love the 32" scale and the very dense birds eye maple top!
-
Fernando has a bit of every bass on Earth!
He's also one of the best sellers to deal with, I bought another Warwick from his collection and I would not hesitate to buy from him again. Top bloke! -
My recently acquired Sonus. I took this picture with the flash to highlight the purple trans finish that otherwise in normal light looks muuuch darker. It's my first Zon and surely not the last
-
I have the same model that Stuart is playing and that neck pick up (of the one for sale here) closer to the bridge really intrigues me.

Hi, I am a new member here. Is still this Musician available?
This is an old thread, I doubt is still around. -
Man! I wish I was able to play monsters like these!

If you get a chance to try one locally- there must surely be one in shop somewhere in the Chicago area - I would definitely give one a try before you give up on the idea. It's a really fantastic feeling neck, your aversion to Jazz Bass necks not withstanding. Try giving Bass Club Chicago a call , maybe.

That's a good idea, I haven't been there yet. -
These old Tokai are a real deal, I have one fretless and it sounds as good as a vintage Fender.

The width at nut according my measurement is 39 mm, so I believe it is 1,532'
Zon modelled the overall neck profile of the Sonus on an early 60s Jazz Bass.
Thank you for the reply, I'm trying to stay away from jazz type necks as I always end up not liking them.
Too bad, this is one of the nicest Zon I've seen. -
What's the nut width on this?

Oh, & Enzo's not . . not mine anyway

LOL, you'll be surprised, if it's all original will go up in price. Just look at some beat up old Fenders how high they sell. -

so when are you expecting delivery?
I already have one if you're referring to the bass. If you're referring to our baby the delivery already happened, everything went well, 3.9kg, thank you for the thought -
These Pre EB Stingrays will be the next Pre CBS Fender in the future, I would not hesitate to buy it, the price is more than fair.
-
Is that black or very dark green?
Would you ship in US? -
As far as I remember, this was sold.
-
Great choice of parts, that's what I would have done myself to assembly my ideal Fender.
... and I agree, the price is great. -
Love JDs bump!
-
Gorgeous beast! I wish I was capable to play a 6 strings!
-
Bump for one of the nicest JD around!
-
mmm, sold a couple of hours later than I thought, what a stunner!

i am confused as to what the customisation is and the rarity?
QUOTE (Enzo @ Jul 23 2011, 11:47 PM)
Usually S2 models don't come with neck and head binding, nor gold hardware. That's the only thing that looks customized.
not exactly enzo, but thanks for your comment. On this model, J DIGGINS himself customised the neck and the head like the serie I.
I think we're talking about the same thing...
The neck and the head have that white stripe, so called binding, that is standard on the Series 1 and a custom option on the Series 2 or 3 or any other bass he builds. -
Probably one of the nicest Status Rob has ever made
...not mentioning the amazing tonal variations you can achieve with that custom electronic! -
OH HELP ME JEBUS! I think this used to be mine. I sold it to a guy called Thom (who owns the 1st Jaydee bass made, but that's another story). I only found out about the Mark King pickups much, much later. I could have charged much more if I'd have known! It was black when I got it, but it looks much nicer now. This was 'THE' bass that I regretted selling. I'm still kicking myself (in the head) over it now. I vowed never to sell another bass, and so far I haven't.
Have a free bump for a beautiful bass and good luck with the sale.
Yes Gareth, you're absolutely correct. This use to be black and belonged to Thom. Re the pick-ups, originally they were mounted wrong too, basically switched front to back, so you probably did not enjoy the the same sound I can hear now. John D. during the refurb noticed that ( he didn't mounted them originally ) and corrected the position. According to the owner at the time, John commented how good they sounded saying it was like a jump in the '80s.
Thanks for the wishes,................ I will probably regret selling it one day too.

Lovely Distillate Enzo. I spotted this bass on the Alembic Club forum. I miss my Spoiler 32" bass!
Thanks mate, I had a Spoiler previously, another great solid bass.
