2.
My hesitation due to job uncertainty when you had it for sale previously proved to be a wise decision as I ended up leaving work soon after and I currently need to count the pennies.

On the plus side I had 3 interviews this week and the best one has resulted in an email this morning saying that he will be in contact with me next week so if I get the job then I know what I will be celebrating with :)
cheers hope you get the job

  6. Need to move this bass on now, I've had it on for sale before,

but decided not to sell it, as I didn't need to then.

This bass is a beauty, John Shuker made it for me 5 years ago, the elites are still

his most expensive basses, its a stunning bass, never been gigged, lovingly looked

after, its unmarked and in immaculate condition, weighs 8.5 lbs or 3.86 kg.

Its a through neck wenge and flame maple with wenge and Quilted maple top and back.

Gold Schaler hardware, Gotoh Tuners, EMG Soapbar pups and johns Electronics, has

active passive switch, Fretboard slops into body and I had John curve the edges of the

neck into the fretboard, so its really comfortable to play, Rosewood fretboard 24 fret,

bookmatched covers on backplates and headstock, you can get most tones out of this

bass, its a pleasure to play and everything about its top quality, comes with flight case

I don't know what Johns charging for these nowadays, as he's become a lot more well

known of late, I paid £2200 for it 5 years ago, can't believe these beautiful basses not

fetching more money, need to move on wish i could keep it, letting it go now for£850,

had it set up by another well known luthier a only few months ago, just put new set of

strings on and two new 9v batterys so she's ready to go

  7.
I had a white 1989 Ex Factor a couple of years ago. It had the CS stamp on it but still had the original preamp, which was amazing. Without a doubt, one of the nicest basses I have ever played. Probably the best of the lot for slap!
cheers for that, I think people do think that there all about slap, but you can play most styles with it and its so comfortable to play, as I said well under rated, or did I say understated?

  8.
They speak to me some futuristic language I can't understand.

This would get my GAS going except that even the devil on my shoulder knows there's not the slightest chance of me finding the money before someone buys it.
nevermind

Having to definately sell this bass now to pay for other stuff, its such a shame,
this bass is Immaculate appart from one little white mark in the laquer,
as you can see on one of the pictures. its the headless with the drop D on
the E string, layered maple neck, with I'm pretty sure macassar ebony fretboard
with matching end, body in metallic grey, some might say black seems much lighter
than that to me, quite a light bass no neck drop obviously and well balanced,
very easy to play, fast neck, never goes out of tune, very easy on all adjustments
just a little more complicated putting strings on but once you've done it couple times
its fine, this is no one trick pony you can get some great tones out of this bass and
they are easily obtainable, it sounds great through any amp, it really is a delight to play,
the only difference with the customshop and phillips is the five position active passive switch,
fender put in three, two active one passive, lot of people seem to think the fender passive is better,
oh it was built in april 1990 as you will see from the back of the neck shot says 04 90, the front numbers
are the serial numbers which I have checked and they match the dates when fender got involved
with kubicki, also has fender customshop stamp, comes with good hardcase and manual, hoping for
around £800-1000, its a cracking bass very understated open to offers!!

  10.
This is a very recent acquisition and the ONLY reason I'm considering a trade for this is that I really can't justify owning a bass costing this much money and it not be my only/main gigging bass! I have a couple of other basses that I chop and change between and I'm happier that way, rather than having one instrument (especially as I have 3 bands on the go and all require different approaches/tones... well, IMHO) to do everything.

The bass is in mint condition and has a Sadowsky light-case (rigid gigbag). I can and will take pics but tbh I doubt I can beat the pics taken by Roger Sadowsky's photographer, so I'll put those up for now, as well as the link to Mark's original sale and good pics (more to be found in the 'Gear Porn' Sadowsky thread). I'll flesh out loads of info if required but if you are in this league when looking for a bass then I'd expect you'd have a fair idea of what this bass is. :). It goes without saying that it is UBER-light and the tone is huge! It is presently strung with DR Sunbeam 45-105s but I am quite happy to restring and set it up with lighter gauge strings (home set-ups are a doddle on this bass) 'for the right deal'.

What do I want? I'm receptive to most offers but the bass being offered MUST be under/about 9lb in weight! I won't split hairs if the bass is an once or two over 9lb BUT recent experience of buying a 9lb bass, weighed on the 'bathroom scales' (person weighed with/without bass) that actually turned out to be 10lb 13oz bass, has left me needing a more accurate weight. Obviously I also don't want to do a straight swap for a similar priced bass (defeats the whole object of why I want to trade). Hit me with what you have for offer via PM and please include a price for the balance you are looking to add, it'll save a fair degree of PMs if I know that we are in the right area. I do have 2 offers on the table to buy the bass outright, so a straight sale is obviously acceptable but I'm not prepared to sell it for less than I bought it from Mark.

    Cheers.

    <edit>

Ooops! Forgot to say that I'm only interested in 4 stringers and a fretless wouldn't be top of my list... but you never know.
hi I have a kubicki x-factor fender custom shop and a shuker elite 4 in top grade quilted maple wenge and flame maple, think pictiures still on statti site and this site, if interested I'll email some nice pics, I was thinking both basses and £500 any good, regards soggs

  11. hi I realise you've withdrawn this bass, would you still be in a position to sell it, if so please contact me, also even if you are not selling it would you mind letting me know what they compare with or give me some insight as I don't seem to be able to find one to try, unless I travel a long distance, thanks anyway regards simon
Hey you lot!

I just got a stock update from sadowsky and there's a bass i'd love to buy so im gonna try and sell this lovely, lovely bass!

    I'll probably regret it but

    Here it is:

    Bought new in June/July 08

    Mint condition, includes sadowsky case!

Cost me just short of £1700

    Sells for £1200
12.
Do you have the original bridge and how much does the bass weigh?
hi gareth, no it came with the bass when I bought it, although most of the fender jazz's I've ever looked at seem to have these bridges fitted, as to the weight, without weighing it I don't know, just stuck it in my computer and one site came up with fretless jazz same year at 9.5 lb, its not a heavy bass to play, let me know if your interested

  13. This bass is totally original apart from the badass bridge fitted, it was on the bass when I bought it, its in really good condition for the year and as its 26 years old, it must be a classic by now surely?, the only mark on it is at the top of the body towards the back, paint worn off slightly, plays and sounds great, nice natural warm tone, but you can also get that nice gritty funk sound, as you can see its in dapne blue with the tortoise shell scratch plate and Maple neck, about a year ago had frets levelled, cleaned adjusted etc. so ready for gigging, like £800 for it
