1. Shows me up for not proof reading
2. After receiving advice from people yesterday (I thank you) I am the now the proud owner of a MIJ Fender P. After part-ex(ing/) My 5 string and bartering down because of the damage, all in all I paid £100.. A bargain I feel. A little work does need to be done however, new input jack, new nut, new pots as the tone is jammed shut. Still, I'm a happy man Obligatory pics below
3. Well I've played it plugged in and given it an inspection. The E string keeps popping out the nut the A string is out the saddle. Chipped body and headstock. As well as all this the input jack is loose the frets aren't in great condition and the tone knob doesn't turn. I'm sure I can knock down the £300 price
4. Oh I'm not bashing basswood. Just can't find a spec sheet that isn't in Japanese.
5. Much appreciated guys, because it's so light could I hazard a guess at basswood body?
6. I've done another serial check, ticking in Made in Japan, and now it seems to be an Fujigen, 84-87 made. I'm thinking of trading in my Ibanez 5 string which i hindsight was a impulse buy, even though it was 2nd hand.
7. Hi guys and gals, I've found this what I think is Fender P in a local pawn shop. Noodled around on it and enjoyed it. The neck felt amazing and the weight was really light. I do have some concerns however, the serial number doesn't check out and the neck plate is blank. With my limited Fender knowledge I guess it's either a parts bass or some sort of Precision Special . Could someone confirm my suspicions and whether its worth the £300 (give or take) asking price? 8. That was the exact issue I have a copy of, digital mind you. Disconnected Steve's may be, I can't see Fender doing it on the sig...
9. If I've misread forgive me, wasn't Steve's #1 made out of big leaf maple due to a shortage of alder, which made it weigh a 'metric shitload? I've got a Westone Thunder p-bass with a solid maple body that weighs a ton so I'd assume the weight of this new model could be around the same?
10. Still aesthetics aside, at least it's cheaper than the previous version. Still tempted though...
11. Greetings, This could be a stupid question but does anyone have an idea why Fender have gone without the vintage tint on the fretboard for Arry's new sig? As the original bass has always been the late 70's just refinished a number of times, it would make sense to keep the tinted neck. Thoughts? Cheers AJ
12. After deliberating I finally decided to purchase this Ibanez SR375. Second hand for £235, bargain in my opinion as few come up on Evilbay. The bridge is a little blackened but nothing a good polish wouldn't change. 3 band EQ, light as all hell, a welcome change to my Westone Thunder 1A, basically a tank with strings. Also, a much tighter string spacing than my previous 5 string, Yamaha BB605. Pics below.
